Punishments are really weak then they get intense out of nowhere

Honestly, this whole instant feedback system is screwed. Anyone, and I mean almost ANYONE who is toxic will dismiss a 10-30 game chat ban no problem. They'll think they've reformed because they don't get any of those popups saying someones reported them. Suddenly, you're banned for 14 days. This is not a smooth escalation and saying that someone has been warned isn't a very valid excuse for just throwing a random ban with only very gradual punishment progression. I think something more like 20 game chat restrict (1) 3 day chat removal and replaced with basic commands like in tf2 (2) 3 day ban (3) 2 week ban (4) perma ban (5)

I don't like permabans either, but if they had to stay that'd probably be best. Also, those warning messages saying you need to tone it down because you've been reported are extremely key in making sure someone realizes what they're doing wrong. Those chat restricts do nothing and the random bans will only worsen someones behavior.

Solution : Don't be toxic. Honestly though, it needs to be like that. If we knew were the limits are we would push them. If I don't mind a 20 game chat restrict I'd bash the hell out of my teammates all I want until I get it. Riot doesn't want that. It needs to be scary for the sole fact that everytime you see that message you're like : "Shit, if I don't stop now I could actually risk getting banned and losing season rewards."

I'll be the first to admit that I can be toxic in some games yet somehow I've never gotten more than the "we understand everyone has a bad day" warning. Maybe it's unjustified but I have a hard time sympathizing with people who've been reprimanded because of that considering that I've flamed, left, insulted people etc... I just don't do it to a consistent extreme.

The 10 and 25 chat restrictions ARE warnings.

The 14 day ban is the FINAL warning.

They say that on the email you get.

I have a similar issue, but with the way they deal with leave penalties. I lagged out of one game and got the warning about leaving games early. Two days later I lagged out of one, but came back half way through (and my team won in the end) and after the game I have low priority queue. That wouldnt be an issue if it wasnt an automatic 20 minutes just to get in queue, and then time on top of that, and god forbid someone not accept the game because then its 20 more minutes. And this lasts for five games. So assuming I get screwed and someone doesnt accept the game, I could be waiting as long as an hour to get into one match. All this for something that was A)Out of my control, and B) the second time I played more than half the match and still got the ban. This is an escalation of "warning dont do this" to "fuck you, no more fun for the next week because of one and a half games of lag".

And before you say it, yeah I know. "Dont play league if you know your gonna lag etc etc etc." Guess what bois, I dont know when im going to lag. Ive gone months at a time without a single lag spike, and then spent an entire day trying to sort my shit out. Its not like it comes on a schedule. And when I know im lagging I dont queue up into any more matches. This example right up here ^^^ yeah that was one game two days ago and one game today. Thats all it took and now I have five games of low priority. Sounds fair to me.

TLDR Rito this is some serious bullshit

the OP has a valid point. many toxic players. particualarly those who are verbally toxic don't know where the "invisible line" is. because it's invisible. and for people trying to reform. that's a problem. and "dont be negative" isnt an answer. because "negative behavior. is vague and subjective. imo riot needs to come out with a complete list of whats ok and whats not

while this list would be largely arbitrary. it would let people know exactly whats ok and what's not and allow reforming players a list of things to avoid doing. and would let trolls know

an example list would be

this will get you punished outright "intentional feeding" "hate speech" "trolling" "irl threats"

this will get you punished if you do it repeatedly "asking for reports" "raging/insulting your teammates" "passive aggressiveness" "taunting""allies or enemies" "spamming chat, pings or surrender votes" "trying to coerce teammates" "afk" "excessive cursing" "retaliating to a toxic player"

this is ok and wont get you punished and should not be reported initiating a surrender vote voting yes on a surrender vote complaining being direct muting a teammate muting chat altogether

im also putting this list up on a separate board
