Excellent idea for Rewards for honors system
Making rewards for good player behavior and working it into the honors system is something we've been hearing about for a long time with no results. People have also been complaining about getting autofilled a lot. The answer to the former I believe is embedded in the issue in the latter.
The honors system reward should be autofill free passes. Enough honors gets you a point you can spend in the queue lobby that makes it so you can't be autofilled. Make it so you can only be honored by the same person once a month. At low elo where match times were never really an issue anyway, you can theoretically accumulate enough honors to prevent a lot of autofills because of how many people are in low elo. At higher elo where autofills actually do have a positive affect on queue time, you can't earn as many because you play against the same people often.
End result of this system:
- There is finally a worthwhile reward for the honor system regardless of what elo you are at.
- At low elo where queue times were never horrible to begin with, players will have more opportunities to avoid autofills which will allow them to focus on learning the game instead of struggling to learn a role they only play once every 5 to 10 games.
- At high elo where autofills keeps queue times down, less auto fill exemptions are given.
- Presumably everyone plays better at their main role and therefore people who behave well will get autofills less which translates into being at their stronger role more often which will lead to more wins and therefore a defacto bonus to their ability to climb when compared to people who are toxic often enough to not accumulate many auto fill exemptions.
Only issue I can see is that support mains kind of get shafted. Let these unsung heroes (<3 you supports) trade in auto fill exemptions for low level support skins.
Boom I just fixed your honors system, Rito. Pls send me my check in the mail.
