honor increases, and chat bans

The goal of chat bans is to improve player behaviour The goal of honor level is to improve player behaviour.

However, the lockout of honor after a chatban, is counterproductive. Once you lift chat restriction, you should want the player to be even more motivated to improve. potentially to earn honors. redirect their enegy towards the positive.

HOwever, if you then block their ability to self motivate by building honor again.... you have then taken AWAY motivation for them to concentrate on improving. It is counter productive.

Seems reasonable.

My understanding is that the actual honor lock is very brief, though. Is that not the case?

It's definitely not brief. I had a 14 day ban 6 months ago, still haven't gotten back to level 1.

I meant literally having your honor "locked" is brief. The climb back is not.

6 months is a long time, though. Have you completed any checkpoints?

its completely broken after a ban. when I went through it, I could get an honor pretty much every game, but no progress for months.

From what I've seen, the biggest issue in folks being unable to progress out of Honor 0 is that they sabotage their own progress with negative behavior that gets reported but isn't enough to trigger another full punishment.

You should try a support ticket, see if they can comment on your progress or lack thereof.

If by brief you mean 54 games.

Also, if your honor is locked.. there is no incentive to honor others.

Thats a whole nuther issue. It really shouldnt be necceesary to "open a support ticket" to see honor progression. The current honor display type in your profile sucks. it should be more of a progress bar or something.

I get and give honors every game and was honor 5 last season and im still stuck at level 2 checkpoint 3. The honor system just sucks overall

how so? whats the motivation? Where does it come from? To motivate someone, you have to offer them something they want. currently, riot just takes everything away, and gives them no motivation to be a good team player. For MONTHS.

Riot wants to you prove to them that you are reformed to at least neutral behavior, and for that to happen, they'll have to test you over many games.

dude this isnt about ME.

and your supposition is false. locking someone's honor at 0 has nothing to do with "testing" anyone. That is PUNISHMENT. There is no "testing" involved.

Testing, would be simply to have a 1-game chat ban tolerance, instead of the default 3game one, or whatever it is. you are "tested" to behave nicer, iand if you fail the test, you get put stright back on ban or something

Fine, it's not a test.

It's a period for the player to prove that they are reformed.
