Punished By Other Players

Why is there no balance for ranked games when people either: Don't care and DC/AFK? DC/AFK because of bad internet or bad PCs? Get mad and DC/AFK? .... I'm actually pretty much done with having to lose and constantly be in a forever bounce between B4 and B5 because of this reason. Why do I have to be punished because someone can't just play or stay connected to a game? ... This game is actually really enjoyable and fun and something I wnat to do but I can't take the fact that I am constantly held back because of other people that decide that they can't play or don't have good resources to stay connected to the game long enough to play.

It's simple, really- They can't test any new solutions, or come up with new solutions that won't raise toxicity.

There are plenty of ways that they could make themselves like other games - surrender with no bad results, disable an enemy team player when your team has a DC... there are plenty of solutions and just none are being implemented.

Surrender with no bad results- Easily abusable, as the entire team can just flame the guy until he AFKs, and then surrender with the pretense "he rage quit". If they make it at the start of the game, I kinda see it, but it's hard to implement with the spaghetti code we have, not to mention it will encourage pre-game toxicity.

Disable an Enemy Team Player? That's not smart at all. You deny one other person a match, plus you can easily choose a fed person and get them booted. Not fair in general.

Still things that can be remedied. The surrender option could only be available after a certain amount of time of a person be disconnected. Why is it fair that four people suffer because of the actions of one? ... Oh no the game ends and no one gets nothing. If a community that wants to support sportsmanship can't get over that kind of option then maybe they should not be playing a game that sponsors cooperation of individuals to a common goal of winning.

Same thing can be said for the disable option - when you are disabled you just have to realize that it's for the common good of having a fair game and not one where you just steam roll and win. There could be other side sets to the option - a vote or chance option.

Nothing that's suggested would equivocally be fair in anyone's direct eyes, but when they can open them and realize - 'Hey, they are really pushing for a community that wants sportsmanship, fair play and good fights.' - maybe then they can understand what real terms of a real competition are.

You look to people and think the best of them, but sadly I wouldn't recommend doing that here. Toxicity has toned down, but not as much as most would think. Most people would vehemently complain rather than accept this. Most players aren't going to realize "Oh hey, this is for the good of everyone!" They are going to think "Wtf is this shit!? Fuk u Rito!!1!!!!" Also, for your first "remedy" people will just flame after first blood. "Games over, gg" would be the first thing that would pop up in chat for some people- the more toxic players. The milder ones would probably do it when they are down by about 5 kills or something. Also, keep in mind that is what DQ does- sponsor cooperation- but the community (mostly solo) hates it vehemently. I don't care if the enemy DC'd. I want to win. I don't give a shit about the greater good when my rank is at stake. I wouldn't want my team voting me off the island, I don't want to get BS'd by some RNG system... Most people won't always go for the fair game, and would rather make sure they can secure their rank rather than be booted off randomly because the enemy team got unlucky. Not everyone is going to open their eyes or play fair. Take off your positivity glasses... They're starting to get blurry and ignore hubris.

Also thank you for being more positive in your reply than Ada Wong.

Ada Wong is pretty toxic from the replies he has said to many people.

DC's and AFK's don't matter that much until you are against opponents that can and will abuse your lack of another player. Bronze players just aren't going to do that, and you should still be able to climb if you're good. I've carried plenty of games like this on my smurf when my mmr was still low. Focus on getting better and worry less about your teammates.

RedPandaFury1 votes

Um yeah because NO ONE in Bronze level just charges forward once they are aware of a severe advantage. Get real. Oh and thanks for admitting that you have a smurf account. Good luck with that. Also, being that it's a team game and everyone harps on that .... one has to worry about their teammates.

??? I mean, I literally just one a game on my main (plat elo) with an intent feeder early. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2170865692/229129688 Again, don't worry about your teammates, just winning the game.

1.) Do you understand why people don't care, if you are like me and you have played like over 1000 + Games you realise at champion selection ( I JUST DON'T GIVE A F*** Anymore?) Why the reason I have behind this feeling is the simple fact no one takes champion selection seriously except higher ELO, or Pre-Made professional teams where it be LCS or a group of teams trying to be as professional as possible.

2.) AFK's / DC's are a problem I encounter them but sometimes not as often as people claim.

3.) I Do agree the game needs improvements when it comes to match-making and other players dragging them down, for example in a MOBA it doesn't matter if I start out 5-0 in a lane where it be DOTA 2, or League, even Smite what matters is the fact players had no idea what the hell they are doing in champion selection, When to go into fights, or how to even play its a huge frigging problem..

. You can't call it out because you get reported and banned for toxic. . You can't call it out because players argue and what you said just starts toxicity (Ex. Would have been better if you took X champion from the beginning we would be winning this match.)

So it comes down to just (Shut the hell up) and lose the game move on to the next game, and repeat until (RNG) (Random Number Generator) you make it up out of bronze because all the players you played against (Suck) and or have the same problem with bad players, afk's or DC's.

4.) IN the end it doesn't feel like a competitive game anymore but rather based around.

. Champions . Who screws up first . No fun anymore because of Idiots, AFK's, Trolls to have fun you have to go play (Over Watch) or some other moba.

Over all the only reason of playing League is to try to advance and some people just give up?

Thanks for being the least amount of helpful as possible. Please go crawl back to whatever hole you came from.

If it makes you feel any better, it sounds like testing is going to start soon for a remake feature on the PBE, which allows you to early surrender if a player never connected and no kills have occurred yet in game. Remember, the PBE is a place to test new things, and not everything makes it to live servers, though if it go through we can probably expect it in 6.10 or 6.11.

How ever the problem still remains that it's not always in the beginning of the game that DCs and AFKs occur. Also, thank you for being more helpful than Ada Wong.

Athina4 votes

I understand that this is not always the case. There isn't really anything Riot can do for mid-game DC's that is both fair and can not be abused. At least in the case of a player never showing up, you don't have to be stuck in game for 20+ minutes if these changes get pushed to live.

RedPandaFury1 votes

But it still doesn't solve the later problems. There are ways just no one wants to talk about them.

What do you suggest then? Because there have been plenty of ideas thrown around on the boards before, just no good ones.

Athina3 votes

Like I said, it's almost impossible to create a system where mid-game DC's are dealt with properly. If a system existed where all players other than the DC receive a loss prevented, for example, then discussion in game goes from "How do we win this game?" to "Who is dodging this game?". We can't have a system like that. If you have a better idea we would all love to hear it.

One of my favorite things to do is shit pick and tilt my team. Then I proceed to play really well and give my team issues with cognitive dissonance.

RedPandaFury1 votes

Much like Ada Wong go crawl back into your hole.

I cant, the conservationists lobbied too hard and now my hole is a restricted habitat for a species of endangered mold spore.
