ARAM and AFK

I don't know what it is about ARAM, but 90% of the times I experience AFKs is on ARAM. People who sit in spawn with no items for the first 5-10 minutes of the game, people who rage quit out of the game half way through because they didn't carry, or people who are playing fine and then go and sit behind tower for 5 minutes not doing anything. It is meant to be a fun game mode, I get that, so I can see why people might not take it as seriously as normals or Ranked, but because it is a fun game how is it fair to anyone that 50% of the game have an AFK on one team or another. Even if the person who AFKs doesn't care, it ruins it for the other 4 people on the team who are almost guaranteed a loss now. Even if you ask them after what happened they just say that "it's ARAM no one cares, report away" and after experiencing this so much I have to agree. I have reported every AFK I have seen, on my team or the other, and not once have I received a response saying any of them got as punishment, but if we report someone for being toxic in chat in a normal, I'll get a punishment response in a few hours.

The only solution is to quit and find a different game to play since Riot has firmly decided that they intend to do nothing no matter how many times someone AFKs. Yes this is really their solution.

Worked for me, I always stop by every few months to see if it has gotten better and it hasn't, but it does manage to get worse and worse.

Find a game and a community that actually cares, because this one doesn't.

Riot needs to balance between quick, harsh penalties for people who rage quit or intentionally AFK and people who only leave if there's a rare emergency or unexpected crash.

As far as not receiving notice for reporting AFKs, that it because it's on a different system than the behavioral punishments. You won't see any notices for AFK penalties.

Aram isnt a "throw away" game mode for people who play aram a lot.

Aram: I hear the excuse "it's just aram" Normals: "it's just normals" Ranked: "it's just a game"

You can always make the game trivial, since it is "just a game". Regardless of the game mode there are teammates and even enemies to respect, for their time and effort. Wasting 15-40 minutes of someone's time because the game mode or game isnt important, well maybe try a different game mode or a different game entirely.

Its nice that you think that Riot Games would ever care. Has always been that way. You better deinstall, this aint gonna change ever. The punishment System does not work unless certain blacklisted words are said. AFK´s dont get punished, more then often i had Games where 7+ People reportet an AFK, nothing happens.

Most people deserve to get punished, even though they themselfes know that they have a bad connection/PC. If those people decide to go in a Game of League of Legends, wich typically requires 20+ Minutes of stable connection, they should absolutely be punished to the fullest extend.

I think lag AFKs or someone telling the team an emergency came up is okay. The problem is team mates being like "ordered pizza, gonna eat now" or "gonna smoke weed, brb". If someone knows they have food coming or have other plans and purposefully get into a game knowing they'll afk, i think they should get a 1 or 2 week ban. theyre pretty much planning on throwing the game. i've been forced to afk (for example a pipe burst in my house during a game), but i would happily have not played for a few days afterword if it contributed to a culture of respecting other peoples time in League.

Seperately, ARAM is the single most fun and competetive game mode in league next to hexakill. Summoners rift is the same game every time with slight variation, wheras aram prevents people from forming habits or creating a meta. if you main ADCs but get Sion or Jax every game you gotta learn to be good under strange circumstances. People messin that up sucks. Best game i every played was 5 tanks in Aram vs 3 ADCs and 2 Mages. I was tanks (shen) and we won! it took 45 minutes of strategic slugfesting, but it was a brilliant example of why league is great

AFK is the most toxic thing in league. If we didn't have geniuses working at RIOT then maybe something quicker and harsher would be done about them.

I'm either playing against a team full of Lux/Veigar/Ahri/Velkoz because those ARAM smurfs or my game is thrown away by an afk in either team. It's getting really annoying. Feels like riot doesn't change shit in ARAM anyways; same champions remain OP. And when I finally have a lux or an ahri someone else dodges ._.

sadly, noone cares when ppl go afk. It does not matter in ranked, aram or other alternative game modes. reports are useless cuz nothing happen here. I dont care if they have bad internet - we all have our problems. But when I know about it - why start a game then? Its like you buying a car, it goes broken and you still trying to drive it - cost at will ;p Also ppl who know they dont have time to play 30-60min++ in a row xD" But aslong Riot [aka Rito?] dont cares about afk-gaming (or bot/scripting) noone needs to play this game.

The only thing you can do: sabotage this round till its lost - cuz I dont leech afk ppl to win. salty fact. Toxic ppl you can mute - but they play the game. But afk ppl are still RIP of this community. ALl the years I play with my mantra: never play with afk :3
