Helping to defend other players in post game chat

So I saw this one guy getting TRASHED on in game and post game. So post game, I decided to try and stop them from raging and defend the guy's score and play in game. So to my surprise, the guy who was being targeted, actually turned around and raged at me.

I reported all of them but I honestly have no desire to ever stand up for anyone again because there really is no benefit to defending immature brats who actually create an even worse game environment.

I feel like the best bet would be to just leave it alone every time and let them rage at each other and have everyone report each other because my efforts are just totally wasted on jerkwads.

What do you do in those situations?
