Sometimes they buy skins just because they look good. If you flame someone for spending money on a skin because they suck at that champion is honestly one of the stupidest things to be toxic about.
Yeah god forbid you got mystery gifted a skin on something you rarely play, but decided to give it a spin. People pick the dumbest things to flame for.
Skins are not a measure of skill. Why anyone would think so is beyond me.
Me and my friend joke about it a lot with each other.

"Oh dude, we have more skins with them. GG, free win"

I have a decent amount of cash that I can blow on video games, and when I see a skin that I like, even if I don't even play the champ, I will buy it, because I like it, and there is always the chance I might play that champ in an ARAM or try them out on SR, and if I do I wanna look Dapper Dan while I do it

Especially with the introduction of mystery skins (which I believe Riot has given a free one to positive players in the past). Just because they have the skin doesn't mean they actually purposely bought the skin.
It is how I ended up with such magnificent skins as Grungy Nunu and Bandit Sivir :/.
can confirm. i own over $100 worth of skins and i'm terrible at every lane role and champion.
I imagine they're just incredibly cheap people or kids that don't have jobs and are salty about it.
As someone who has a skin for every single champ (most of the skins) this. I suck with many of the champs but I like to look beautiful even when im sucking.
Never a truer post, like seriously I have a bunch of skins that were mystery gifted to me on champions I don't play. I play these champions and these skins well for one someone spent money on them to do something nice for me and I'm not going to let there money go to waste. Or I just have a bad habit of buying skins I think look amazing in game whether or not I'm good at the champion. Buying a skin doesn't mean you have skill it means you have money to spend on a game simply put.

Having M5 doesn't mean I will carry, it means I like playing that champion a lot.

Plus Skintimidation is a solid tactic, just look at all the people who think Skin = good with champ. At the very least it's as solid of a tactic as taunt spamming to put the enemy on tilt.
My friend mystery gifted me Pirate Ryze and we played a game together (I have played Ryze before) and since that terrible experience were people were flaming me because I had no idea what I was doing made me never want to play him ever again. :/
