Disrespectful and Toxic Community Members, Part 3

Only a short few days later and I have another entry. I was playing midlane as Xerath, one of my comfortable first picks since, if i get counterpicked, i can still get away with hanging back and harassing in lane to avoid getting killed. And it was working. Five minutes passed and Ekko was looking more beat up than I was. So he started roaming to try and get some free kills. Naturally, he went bot since the numbers advantage was down there, and their support was amumu, meaning they could properly lock down a gank target. I pinged missing a few times and told bot lane to back off, which was completely ignored. Ekko got a double kill while I remained in lane to catch up on farming, as one does when they're counterpicked. Bot lane screams at me that I should have followed, to which I replied that I needed to catch up on cs. This was ignored.

After a short back in forth in lane that I won again thanks to superior range, Ekko ganked bot again. I pinged missing, told them to back off, and once again was completely ignored. So this time, i followed ekko and tried to help. All three of us died, and once again, I was blamed for the whole debacle, despite the fact that they were sufficiently warned. I told them that when I ping, they should back off to avoid getting caught in the open. Sivir's response was that I was in no position to give advice, and Lux just had a general 'go fuck yourself' attitude, telling me to never ever play mid again.

This went on for the entire match. Ekko would gank, I'd do what I could to try and stop him, sometimes dying and sometimes not, and bot lane would blame me despite being overextended and easily gankable.

Despite my calls for the two to be reported for clearly toxic behavior, which they displayed in all chat as well as team chat, the enemy team refused to. Why should they? They were winning. They didn't care about anything else.

This highlights once again just how corrupted this community is. If someone calls for reports on blatantly toxic behavior, the other team just... won't. They don't care unless it effects them. And thus, toxicity is allowed to continue unabated. Unpunished. And, in the case of the taunting enemy team, rewarded.

This has been part three of what will most definitely be a continuing series of similar posts detailing the toxic nature of the League community. I hope that one day, Riot begins to take notice of the cancer that festers in their games and finally steps up to make things right. As I so often say, I love this game. But I hate the people that play it. And I desperately wish that wasn't the case.

No matter what you say, you don't like the game. Shitting on Riot, like so many other people do, is not going to magically give them the ability to preemptively punish people before they misbehave.

This is a 2-part problem.

The first part is the actual people who are toxic. It's not as big of a problem as you think it is. And if it's following you around, remember that the only thing in common in all of your games is you.

The second part of this is the "you" problem. You're going to run into asshats. Ignore them. Far more often, you're going to run into people who make comments out of frustration. Ignore them too. Entertainment is what you make it. If you're not able to play despite the people factor involved in a team game, League may not be right for you.

Mmm... sucks to see that happen dude. Its a constant problem with this game haha....

Just do the best you can and mute them- it always makes it a little better.

Best of luck with this stuff in the future!!!

Meh, cant control people. There is no solution, sorry. Youre always gonna have people with free will. Also, as a mid lane anivia player, I hate that lol. Fuckin dummies dont understand you gotta stay in lane sometimes and just get them turret plates. You pinged, they didnt back off, oh well not your fault. Doesnt really matter what they think, does it?

Also, I wouldnt call for reports if I was you. Thats just adding to the chat war. Ignore them, play, report em after. One report triggers the same thing that 9 reports do. It doesnt make the reports more credible just because more people reported. They look at the content, not number of reports. So just stop caring about everyone's opinions n shit. You know the truth. Doesnt matter who they convince of what.
