Yes climbing is hard. So why is stuff like this allowed to exist?

Game 1: We are all insanely far ahead. Life is good. Ezreal decides he doesnt like our mid laner. So he decides to be toxic and just afk farm jungle/lanes. Doesnt attempt to smite baron, its stolen same with dragon. Refuses to really participate at all, while flaming saying "you all fucking suck im carrying you. you dumb silver fucks" We lose. Despite being stupidlly ahead

Game 2: Duo Going 2-18 total across top and bottom lane. Darius 0-5 in 6 minutes. refuses to do anything but run down lane and rush black cleaver while 0-6 and 70 cs down.

Lucian bot lane 0-7 not trying, flaming support.

Holy hell. Any elo I win through actual games, is lost immediately to being trolled.

I bet if I was to cuss them out though, I would see a tribunal punishment.

Yes that is how it works. The system is pretty good at catching and punishing harsh language but it's much harder(and Riot has admitted this themselves) to pick up on trolls and griefers and differentiate them from someone who is trying their hardest but is just having a bad game.

The best thing you can do right now is try and keep your cool, and if you think they really are trolling then report them after the game and use the box to describe what they were doing.

I would be fairly surprised if it is anyones job to actually read the notes box.

The system does. It uses it as training data. And some cases do go to manual review, in which case having wrote something in the chatbox is a huge help.

It actually does help. I, and others have noticed that when we make reports and describe what happens in the box that we're far more likely to get that "feedback" message than just clicking on report and moving on.

yep, this is how riot's system works. they would rather that people troll you all day long than someone say a bad word. enjoy!

Rather? No, it's just easier to catch words.

The point I was making, for those of you who aren't too dense to understand why censorship is generally a bad idea, is that they would be far better served investing the resources they do have in catching intentional feeders, griefers, trolls etc. It may take years to get them all, hell you may never get them all, but the reality of the situation is that it is far more toxic to play with one of these people who intentionally feed or afk or grief than it is to play with someone who for instance, spams racial slurs for the whole game while trying to win.

Anyone who says otherwise is either lying, or doesn't actually care about winning and losing and is just here to look at the pretty colors go by. If someone insults me or harasses me in a game, its annoying but its only that game, If someone trolls me and forces me to lose on purpose, that can affect my mentality for the next game, or the next 2 or 5 or 10. Not to mention placing me in lower elo than i should be and placing me with more trolls. You can't even measure how detrimental Trolls are the to game.

Alright, we don't have any need to call people "dense" indirectly. Please keep the discussion about the content and don't attack other posters for their opinions/statements of fact. If you have questions or concerns about this please visit us in the Moderation Discord here.

To address your point - They're investing tons of resources into trolls/feeders/etc. already. The current chat system is all but 100% automated - they don't have to invest much time in keeping it running at all.

Yes catch all of the trolls, but make sure not to skip over people who are insulting people when it does nobody any good, except for improving the insulter's Self-Esteem.

Censorship is bad when it's halting progress or the exchange and formation of ideas. Asking someone to follow the age old advice of "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" in a video game isn't going to halt the progress of society. Besides, the language system can be almost entirely hired out to other companies that specialize in that kind of thing, meaning it takes very little effort from Riot to update it.

Intentional feeders that get caught get a 14 day ban on the first offense. The trick is making sure that it was intentional and teaching a computer to recognize the difference. Yes, the guy who went 0/13/3 has a terrible KDA, but was it intentional? Without more info you don't really know. If they respawned and ran down mid over and over that's easy to catch, but what's intentional feeding at Diamond level may be normal decision making at Bronze.

The problem with Trolls is that they always adapt to find new ways to troll. I don't know if an automated system can ever be even 10% effective against trolls because of that. Trolls following people in the jungle and taking camps was a common thing a while ago, but it was also a common LCS strat.

Maybe when Riot finishes up the rerelease of the Tribunal it'll focus on Trolls, but I don't think crying about the system that does work is going to help either.

I think you missed the qualifying statement of "for anyone who isn't too thick" or simply don't understand it possibly. Either way, if you can't figure out what this sets a bad precedence, i have nothing to say to you on the matter.

Stop following my posts ur not funny and ur a creep stalker I'm sending riot a ticket showing you are letting your brother play on ur account. Boosting and selling of accounts is illegal and ur stalking me to harass me it's not funny. Ur not funny

Uh i didn't allow him to play onto my account though. Someone told me not to and he hasn't played. If you check my match history it's pretty similar to what I used to play.. The problem just happened because the post is new, I never sold my account either this was originally created by me somewhere in the last 2 years. My first main was Lux and I have the email password and everything. The post was just today too... I'm not sure about the stalking thing but if I reply or stalk you too much I'm sorry.. But I'm not sure what your talking about man, I just wanted to applaud you on making a new friend... I also enjoy checking recent board problems so I can help. I just happened to stumble upon this one with your account.

It's hard to understand, but in the long run to be honest with you it comes down to money. Bronze silver and gold hold the majority of players, it is also one of the most toxic environments in gaming save dota2 or csgo. But to direct to your inquiry perma banning players in that range won't ever happen on a large scale, it's where riot gets the bacon.

Larger issues with the subject you bring up with reporting and things that should not exist in LoL players who are in flex getting mass reported by premade 3s. With the way report system works, more reports on 1 player looks worse then 3 players with 1 report from the other player in flex. Simply put being attacked by 3 different players with segmenting the conversation into 3 separate reports making it near impossible to fully justify reporting any specific player of the premade trio. The solo player on the other hand when reported has all of theirs in one.

I myself do main support, as a result I am flammed on 80% of games I play ranging from bronze to silver. Try as I may to be the best support to a bottom carry, no matter of logic or pain has shown any sign of progress in the ranking bronze into silver. Plays janna support, gets the adc fed, welp top and mid and jungle all failed, fed and now blame support. Guess who is probably premade.

Honestly they need to start banning toxic players, I myself even fall into this term according to tribunal. If banning is to strong and would hurt player base, at least remove them from ranked. If you swear 1 month no ranked, if you go 0 12 0 as a carry 1 month no ranked, in the end it won't change. League is geared for top tier play, not low mmr or elo. So enjoy the game, cause what is the point of playing if every game is full of trolls, and feeders wait..... isn't that every ranked game .......

Negative Bias is a phenomenon that causes people to have far more vivid memories when negative.

Over a really large number of games, the average game screwed over from a player intentionally ruining it would be a small percentage lower then 20%, but because we are not computers and live through each individual game, our perception can be warped to only see the bad. The game where a support shaco went and fed every lane 2 kills before building nothing but boots and being useless; stands out among games where a single player made too many bad plays and it snowballed out of control.

Also, multiple reports are not that big of a deal. A single report flags a game for review and multiple reports do not impact the likelihood or severity of punishment. Multiple reports only matter if multiple people were reported. In that case, each player would be reviewed individually. Its easy to understand why this misconception can come from, but it isn't true and Riot has gone on record noting this. Though I don't where they stated it.
