Let me start off by saying I am NOT a Riot employee. THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE FROM RIOT. I would love if an actual Rioter chimed in and corrects me on anything I may have gotten wrong. Actual Riot employees' names are always RED on this board. If their name is not RED, they are not an official Rioter.

Keep in mind Riot has ZERO incentive to ban paying customers without a damn good reason.

I do NOT have the power to unban your account. I'm just a player like you that is gathering some common concerns I'm seeing and telling you what I know of Riot's policies

Why are so many people getting banned suddenly? Is this some sort of glitch?

Its actually very common practice in the gaming industry to ban cheaters and botters in waves as opposed to 1 by 1 on a case by case basis. Ban waves are far more common, although I'm sure some blatant ones are dealt with immediately.

Why wont Riot tell me what they say I was using or show any proof?

Quite simply if Riot gave away exactly what programs they catch and how, it would just tell the developers of these programs exactly what to tweak to fly under the radar. Essentially it would keep these programmers one step ahead at all times.

I don't use any scripts or malicious programs.

You have to be very careful about what programs you do use. A lot of programs may seem innocent enough but may have just one feature that breaks the Terms of Service. Even if you dont use that single feature, Riot may not be able to tell the difference. I saw one thread where someone was using a program that seemed innocent enough. However, upon inspection the program did in fact have a feature that was prohibited in the past. Even though the feature may have been removed, it may have been there when you used it in the past

I sent a ticket in and they wont do anything

I'm going to quote Chermorg here:

Riot staff audits the detection methods to ensure accuracy, and anyone who contests their ban has their account manually audited. If Riot has told you that your account was detected using unauthorized third party modifications that gave you some sort of advantage - even if you were unaware of it - then your account is not going to be unbanned.

Keep in mind these boards are moderated by volunteer players, not actual Rioters. Chermorg is also a player like you or me. On this board if their name isnt red, they are NOT a Riot employee.

If you send a ticket in, the account is manually gone over by a real person to ensure accuracy. If they still will not overturn the ban, they have proof that someone used a forbidden program on the account. Do you have other people that use the account? Are you sure the account is secure?

I am the only user of the account and have never used any third party program.

It is possible that your account was compromised and had other people using it without you consent. If you purchased the account, it is possible that the previous owner may have used forbidden third party programs and/or botted the account to level 30 (this is extremely common with sites that sell cheap smurf accounts). Please also keep in mind that buying and/or selling an account that hasn't broken a single rule of the Terms of Service is still strictly forbidden and grounds for an instant permaban.

Ask your friends if any of them was on your account without your knowlege. Do you leave your account logged in on your computer? Ask your brothers/sisters/roommates/friends/anyone that has access to your computer if they were on your account. Did you leave it logged in on someone else's computer? At your local LAN center? Have you been the victim of a phishing scheme? Have you given your information to a site that promises you free RP? All of these can lead to your account being compromised.

None of this applies to me. What can I do?

Your only option is to submit a support ticket.

The moderators on this board and the other people here do not have the authority to unban your account, nor do we have a way to directly contact the Rioters that do. Explain your situation. Ask them to see if there is any suspicious activity on the account that may be indicitive of the account being compromised. Other than that, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I'm just a player like you trying to give you the best advice and answers I can.

YOU ARE A HERO FOR POSTING THIS OMG THANKYOU!! People will be flooding the forum with “me got banned by 3rd party but me no playing game” or “mistake ban” ETC When about 80% of these are people who bought accounts from websites.

Typo edit, also glad this is getting attention.

Please don’t buy accounts it’s not worth it.

This happened to me. Contacted support through live chat and I was mistakenly banned. If you are having this problem and are innocent just contact support and stay positive :)

I like the post, only thing I disagree with is this statement. Riot has already banned people for proven false toxicity, not sure if you can even prove innocence if banned for something like this since most of us aren't coders. They even have banned people for not following "the meta" when they say they won't. I think we as a community should all be on full alert for this type of thing and not be complacent and help each other out in these situations. It has happened, it will happen again, only if we all stick together and help each other out can we keep things honest.

Too bad in the case of ranked games, these scripters have already done their damage.. riot needs to do something for us the victims of these scripters as well.. I just lost 3 ranked games in a row against people who not only admitted scripting, but linked post game where you can get them.

I'm not sure if you would know about this but does riot ban people who knowingly duo with scripters when it's not high elo? I was intrigued but couldn't find any information on it.

Edit: You should also add a part telling people to not let anyone else use their account, AFKing a match is a much better idea than letting people play on your account to fill your spot.

To those wondering about Wooxy I have been using it for over a year, with mapskins to character meme skins. I have my reviewed a ban, but USER BEWARE, since you can never be too safe!

You should start linking this, rather than saying "browse other boards post". They most likely will not browse other posts, but they are much more likely to click a link.
