I use to be that girl who always said: "I am not toxic, I just respond to everyone bm'ing me so I am not at fault."
But now that I see that EVERY salty person says this, and then see their chat logs. I see how dumb that comes across and it really helps me just use the mute button and report trolls/toxic players after the game.
I came to this same conclusion lately as well. "Defending yourself" gets no where. Better to mute them and try to be positive to your other teammates (as they are probably still hearing the toxic player and haven't muted them).

I don't usually reply to toxic people because by chasing singed, you will only be poisoning yourself, plus that just make me want to prove them wrong even more. But if the person is really consistence, I will say "yeah, I'm bad. I'm paper 5. Now, what are you going to do about it?" or something to that effect.
Yeah, I've taken to thinking of salty players as my own free soap opera and that's been really helpful for me. Reading this section of the boards really gives you that detached perspective when looking at chat logs and it transfers pretty well into game. I can laugh at their complaining and bickering and go back to focusing on my own gameplay.
I come to this section in the hopes that I find someone freaking out so I can feel a little better about myself as a person :c

I have a friend who would just respond to bm and she would always tell the toxic people she was reporting them. I kept telling her they will just report her for reporting them (threatening reports is considered toxic behavior) and this ended up getting her main perma-banned -_-. I'm glad you are using mute/report now and your account will thank you!
My new favorite way to deal with this is totally troll language

Not getting involved is why you lose the game, if you try what I do and calm your team down. Instead of being mute and saying nothing, you would find many people can be quite co-operative. I try to give a positive to my team with the saying "Its not over till that nexus goes bang" Saying nothing is worse than saying something.
Seems not many people know how to calm a very easy situation down judging by some of these comments on this post.

I mean .. how hard it is to spend 15 secs looking at the front page of behavior boards (no matter which view you use) and find something similar?
Because what people say via keyboard to another person is sooooo damaging. Cyber bullying is an illusion brought on by weak minded little bitches. Oh someone said something bad about you in a video game/on facebook? That sucks, at least you have access to those luxuries you ingrate.

When someone is feeding/trolling or is very angry just remember that after the game they have to play another with them-self and you don't.
