I use to be that girl who always said: "I am not toxic, I just respond to everyone bm'ing me so I am not at fault."
But now that I see that EVERY salty person says this, and then see their chat logs. I see how dumb that comes across and it really helps me just use the mute button and report trolls/toxic players after the game.

Ultimately, responding just gets me into an argument on the internet, which is like, the worst. If I can get to a place where I can roll my eyes and move on, I'm in much better mental shape to actually win the game.
Then again I was losing lane last night when my opponent asked if I was actually Plat last season. That did motivate me to a 16/3/10 win. ^.^

Hethalean3 votesExactly! Not getting involved is the best way! Generally, they are not being toxic to improve your play. If they are, it's not even a good way to improve your play. There is no reason to really get involved with arguments in League of Legends! It's better to just try to communicate positively. Trying to access a persons positive emotions is the best way to make them play better.

Players who look at your name and do mental gymnastics to take bronze with a melodramatic floor routine aren't players worth the time to think about when considering the name.
I named this account this name purposefully to root out the positive from the toxic and negative -- It's a salt bait, you see.
If anything goes wrong or you have a conversation they don't agree with, you're somehow instantly toxic to them;
Anything goes right and either they or the enemy don't like it -- You're suddenly a boosted animal, or a smurf who can't win their own ELO who has to rely on X tactic or X champion in order to win.
Being a smurf, or good, or a girl playing an account with a name designed to tilt your enemy/ counter-bait the flamebaiters on your team won't stop the inevitable assumptions based on a summoner name.
People are entitled to informed opinions, not base assumption opinions. No one's entitled to act a fool;
And from experience, you're going to see alot who see the name and will start hopping like you just popped in Kris Kross's "Jump".

Reading this section of the boards really gives you that detached perspective when looking at chat logs and it transfers pretty well into game. I can laugh at their complaining and bickering and go back to focusing on my own gameplay.

I've said this countless times and no one seems to understand.... how you play can be way more toxic then anything you can ever say in chat. Who would you hate more, the 0/12 player who doesn't flame or the person who has to deal with him that does? Keep in mind in this circumstance the flaming player is trying to win and is doing good.

No. You don't know who is on the other side of that monitor, what they have been through, or are currently going through.

But Im Nunu3 votesThe way I see it, intentional feeders already know they are there to ruin the game for other players. They don't care what you say, they're there to ruin YOUR day. So by retaliating, you're not helping anyone and that can only get you into trouble.
Unintentional feeders, on the other hand....Maybe they are having a bad day, maybe learning a new champion/trying a new build, maybe they are just plain bad. Either way, harassing them is not helping anyone. On the contrary, it could distract them and make them perform even worse, which is counter productive. Best thing is to give constructive criticism, some encouragement when they did do something right, or just not say anything. Heck, if you really want to, yell at your screen and let your frustration out. At least that way it won't affect anyone else in the game.
I can see why someone would be toxic to another toxic player, but I don't think that's the best course of action either. Similarly to the intentional feeder case, if they want to harass you and make your day worse, then they don't care what you say. If you retaliate, that just mean you're not focusing on the game, which could affect the outcome of the game. Instead of a 4v5 with a monkey constantly in their ear, your teammates will have to fight a 3v5 while you two are arguing over nothing. If they say you're bad, show them wrong. Action speaks louder than words.

I kept telling her they will just report her for reporting them (threatening reports is considered toxic behavior) and this ended up getting her main perma-banned -_-. Instead of being mute and saying nothing, you would find many people can be quite co-operative. I try to give a positive to my team with the saying "Its not over till that nexus goes bang" Saying nothing is worse than saying something.
Seems not many people know how to calm a very easy situation down judging by some of these comments on this post.
