Why is it against the rules to bump a thread [serious concern here, not a frivolous complaint]

I just had a post deleted for bumping my thread on General Discussion.

I understand that mods want everyone's post to have a chance of showing up and you may be viewed as usurping the top posts if you bump often.

But GD's front page moves really fast. Sometimes a post was in the 1st position and 2 seconds later it's in the 10th position. That's a good thing because it means a lot of people are visiting this board. But sometimes that means that certain posts will be skipped over while the GD's timeline is moving so fast.

And once a new post reaches about the 7th or 8th position on the front page, the chances of someone clicking it goes way down. Most people only look at the top 5 posts or so. Once something reaches the second page, it's almost pretty much dead. Most of the posts that stay alive after it goes to the 2nd page or even the bottom half of the front page are those that already have gained momentum and have more than 20 replies. It's hard for a new post to compete without bumping it.

If you want to get your message across once it's been skipped down to the 9th position or beyond, there's 2 options: bumping or making a duplicate thread, and the 2nd option is clearly annoying and not helpful.

The front page is an upvote system. Bumping your thread does nothing. Riot wants these boards to be a place of discussion, not spam [not saying they succeeded, just pointing out the intention].

If bumping is allowed, then most likely everyone will be doing it. So the chances for one's post to stay up will be more or less the same. Unless you have more tenacity and continuously bump for days even though no one else is replying. At that point, you're just being a nuisance since obviously no one cares about that topic.

You made your post, no one commented, then you bumped it five minutes later. If someone wants to join in your discussion, they will. If they don't, your discussion falls off the front page. This is how the Boards work. If you spam bump posts or bump them right after you make them in this manner, you will be warned, then if you continue, suspended.

Because there's no such thing as 'bumping' on the new boards, like there used to be on the old boards. It doesn't resurface your thread. 'Bump' posts have no purpose and aren't related to the thread content at all, so they're really just spam.
