It feels like people don't even WANT to win anymore.

People are giving up so absurdly easy these days that it honestly feels like they don't even want to win, like I can't understand why they're even playing the game. At this point I'm not sure I want to play anymore games with any random players ever again because of this complete lack of motivation at the slightest disadvantage.

If this keeps up I might actually become toxic to all these people who are giving up all the time. I don't want to be, but the frustration from having teammates sit in fountains and give up totally winnable games is starting to get to me to the point that I really can't think of words to describe it.

I wish people played like they did several seasons ago. It felt like there were a lot more "never give up, never surrender" people around, and teams actually made comebacks because they didn't ff. Yes, I know it's super snowbally these days, but down here in gold, comebacks are incredibly likely with the number of mistakes people make.

Edit: I'm not saying to never surrender, just that I preferred that mentality over the current one. I'll certainly ff in a clearly lost game, but many teammates want to ff in games that are close to even these days.

You are absolutely right. People don't want to win games, they play to dominate their opponent.

I was on my smurf in gold yesterday, playing jg fid. I handed my team early game, mid game and baron. We are ahead in every possible respect but they won't group for objectives and keep going and doing our jg camps or solo pushing side lanes.

If we walked down mid as 5 we win, I told them that, they kept throwing and wasting time, so I alt-tabbed out and did some online banking. Honestly I was happier to stop playing than I was to try and suppress my frustration and carry that dead weight across the finish line.

There is a point where people don't want to play anymore and forcing them do doesn't to any good for any of us. This game is like a prison sometimes.

I agree 100% with you on this, but from what I've seen and been told by many players, people are just assuming wins/losses in champ select just through team comps alone (probably because they see a streamer play/play against a champ and claim it's busted and therefore they just see the champ get 1 kill and it's GG to them) Personally I find enjoyment out of League through long matches where one team gets ahead, and the other team starts playing together and getting good picks until they are able to even the gold lead. So I'm also getting frustrated seeing a surrender vote with 4 green bars 15 minutes in - even if my team is ahead/we have a better late game comp.

I'm just going to hope that people realise comebacks are a possibility and matches aren't always decided by which champs are being played, and learn that not everyone is good at "meta breaking" champs, that they might simply be learning them.

Well to be fair, riot doesnt make it easy to comeback. Its only natural to try to surr if they see a difficult comeback.

######inb4 a bunch of people show up and start shitposting about how games are over at 10 minutes.

I can't argue for any elos above gold but I know that in gold people start giving up at 15, 10, and hell even 5 minutes into the game. There's no reason to give up that early, especially not in lower elos. Everyone in low elo makes mistakes that can turn the tide of the game very quickly.

I think alotta people are just burnt out of this game

Blåbæret6/15/2018, 7:47:51 PM3 votes

Or maybe it's you who just don't realize when a game is lost? The game is just snowball. Accept it and stop blaming people for not wanting to waste their lives playing lost games.

Power Cosmic6/15/2018, 2:45:08 PM3 votes

Having to play against 4 carries every game can be toxic.

Elohaven6/15/2018, 3:52:38 PM3 votes

Reason is it takes so much effort to stop a snowball now since 300 gold+tower gold+150 assist gold is so much. One item advantage just means burst now. One fuck up and all that cautiousness in your plays causes you to restart and have to delay longer or just lose the game. That 15 minute stall is all for nothing.

I'm not justifying what they're doing but if I took a look at their perspective, it's understandable because it isn't a 1-time thing. It happens ALMOST EVERY game. Which is a huge issue in Season 8 and why many don't play ranked or try.

From my experience, the first 3 minutes are more critical than ever now.

I used to be able to play for 10 minutes and make a few mistakes and catch my opponent in a mistake and still have a chance to catch up.

Now, if the other team gets ahead 3 or 4 kills and if my lane gets ganked, there is almost no chance that I can ever catch up.

Especially when I play ADC.

At this point, about 5 minutes in, the game is over for me. It will take 30 minutes of farming and getting flamed to be able to get a few items and contribute.

Once I get sick of listening to all the toxic flaming shit about not going to team fight, I go to the team fight, they all run behind me. Being immobile adc, I get CCed and killed.

So what's the point of even going?

The snowball bullshit is so bad, that if I get 10 cs or 2 kills behind, they push up and gank, kill me and the lane is lost and they will get one or two towers before I can even get back to lane, then they go destroy mid with rift herald and the 4 dragons they have.

And I am maybe 1/2/4 at this point, but it is alllllll my fault.

If I have a good support, and we hold bot lane, then we get the 4 man gank and get run over and they take the tower and all go mid, same result.

If I win bot, AND mid wins and roams AND top wins AND jung just doesn't totally fuck up, then we might slowly win. But even then the real risk of throwing the game is ever present.

Right now, I might lose 5 in a row then win 1 or 2, then lose some more.

So to your point, recent changes and all the snowball bullshit champs make it so there is not much to do when it takes 1 sec to die and then I wait 20 sec and then they do it again.

Just the farm you miss when dead as an adc means 3 death at 5 minutes ends your game. I do my best up to the 3rd death. IF I am 0/3 then that's it, I'm done.

There is no late game anymore, it is all decided at 3 to 5 minutes. I already know if we have a chance to win or not at 3 minutes.

After 5 minutes it is more obvious.

At 10 to 12 minutes even the stupid people can see it. But they still wont FF at 15.

The worst thing is when they are winning lane and think they can carry but we only have 2 or 3 towers left and we slowly lose over 30 minutes.

So yes, when I see it going the wrong way, I just farm and try not to die. I already know we lost and no I don't really care.

I can't care. Back when I was trying my best and people were feeding and throwing I got all tilted and eventually got banned. All that work gone. So now I don't give a shit at all about this game. I play to waste time. Do the win of the day and maybe 2 more and done.

I personally rarely ever ff a ranked match. It just seems that games are such frustrating stomps nowadays so people give up more.

Malevolent Metal6/16/2018, 3:32:46 AM3 votes

And why wouldn't they give up easily? Even if there is a change for them to win why would you prolong your suffering if you are playing against Irelia and co? The currently popular (op) champions are insufferable to play against.

4 FUN PLAYERS IN 4 FUN REGIONS.

srsly tho fuck your "never give up, never surrender" mentality. Nothing tilts me harder than seeing the 0/15 lee say "we can still win". like bitch you couldn't do it in the early game why would that change now that your champ fell off like a brick.

The Space Cowboy6/15/2018, 8:28:32 PM2 votes

+1 I’ve made threads about this a few times this year. People just want to replay lane phase unti they snowball. The irony being that the other team will ff if they do have a good start.

People counter saying the game is so snowball prone that the game is over at first blood or even champ select. Ya riot needs to fix stuff but the game is winnable. They will say it’s a waste of time, but you don’t just play to win, you play to play. I want to get to full build. The towers are paper so even a team that’s behind can sweep a win if they ace the opponent one time. People are just weak willed and it’s sad.

The fun thing about challenger league championship streams: their picks can be quite unusual - and yet since they're so good - it's very hard to predict the outcome.

In lower leagues - if you played long enough - you can predict a loss or a win since champ select. Last game for example:

My team:

  • picks Lucian MID - vs Akali
  • picks YASUOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Top! VS. Olaf Bot lane was actually decent pick: Braum and Draven but since "all team end-up being ad" - they went for tanky builds as expected.

I TRIED! i FREAKING TRIED! (as ww jungler) - but was close to IMPOSSIBLE!

Would have dodged - but already dodged before and next dodge implies 15 min wait + more lp loss anyway. So i lost (even got demoted) and got heavily tilted cause of those TWO (Top Yasuo + Lucian) and their troll picks.

Not saying that Lucian mid dosn't work. It does in some games - "If you have an APC to compensate". But in this combo - him and Yasuo brought the team down.

I'm not the kind to give-up (if i see a chance), but games like this are HORRID! An AWFUL EXPERIENCE! In games like this surrender IS the most reasonable option. Though, 2 of them diddn't (i'm sure it was Yasuo and Lucian). And we were forced to endure another 10 min till they wipe out the base - with no change of doing anything but DIE! And feed the enemy team's EGO! -______________________-

There are many 12 year old turds on ranked doing god knows what, its beyond retarded and just wastes everyones time.

PumpkinsNTheLawn6/16/2018, 4:00:00 AM2 votes

The game is one sided and boring there is no uniqueness that one can feel or the slightest fun without a team. Of course if their forced in a match to play they will hate it but i would blame them for playing this trash game like how can you be addicted to this? What is your motivation to play league of legends..... if you're not a sheep you can see why this game is garbage.... item 3194

Grinding6/15/2018, 5:08:29 PM2 votes

this is very accurate, I got into a game the other day at the 6 min mark my bot/jg wanted to surrender at 6 min playing because they weren't doing well while the mid and I were fine and could carry, which we did eventually

THEN i played another game were no lie at 4min my entire team started typing /ff and ruining around dying the entire team, i couldn't believe it there had been 2 and a half minutes of play time and my whole team gave up and fed till we could surrender fuck that was a terrible time

So, I've mostly been playing ARAMs (got burnt out early this season), but I pay attention to the League community / watch streams yet of solo que.

If I combine the two, my suspicion is simply that it's the echo chamber effect just being that strong at present. If you consider how people acted when solo que was removed, it was the same basic behavior. Just in this case, it's people going "it's an overpowered one-shot meta, I'm behind, so I don't want a worse KDA. Unlucky. Next game." This is compounded already over the early season feelings of "Why is x position 0/8/0 by this point in my game? We've lost." Even worse if it's at two positions. The game is more team-based; the player base isn't that way. Maybe if Clash had ever gotten to function it might have bolstered the mentality a bit more in a trickle down effect (that's likely optimistic). But that obviously didn't happen.

Games on top of this are assumed quicker (even if statistically way less than the actual---it's what? 22-25 m on average? but players are still quoting the game is over in 8 to 15 minute marks). You might see an improvement based off what's done with crit ADCs, but I feel it's about re-establishing a mindset for the player base for a while instead. Because there's still going to be the idea of---doesn't matter! We won't reach that timer. So unless there's a huge shake-up, I'd expect the same.

Reading the thread about ranked decisions for next season being roughly the same (increase grind/questionable value of other roles) makes me think it may be a long haul though.

only gets worse from here. schools out for summer.

If a player dies, it is a teammates fault, ff at 15. reported.
