Is using chat to intimidate the enemy team illegal?

Say you were using all-chat to try and scare your opponent (which hardly works because everyone goes "Internet Tough Guy!"). Does that fall under toxic chat when you're not being an ass to your teammates?

This is just hypothetically speaking, of course.

EDIT: I mean stuff like "I hope you like drowning in your own blood" and creepy shit like that.

When in doubt, it is often best to err on the side of caution. I can't imagine what benefit I could possibly get from threatening the enemy team.

Depends on what you say and how you say it. Being a jerk to the enemy team is still being a jerk in general. If it's not constructive or helpful then just don't press "Enter".

Unless your saying something that could be interpreted as harassment then most likely not. Example: Say you are playing [champion] and you kill your opponent. You say in all chat: "Haha! Next time stay under tower if you don't wanna die again!"

I would view this as ok.

If instead you said: "GG scrub. Hug your tower if you don't wanna feed."

That of course is not ok.

There was an instance where a team faked an afk of one of their teammates and used allchat to do it, somehow the enemy team didnt find out and got stomped when the "afk" jungler finally showed up or something. Was amusing.

Hello, In response just to the title of the post/question alone. I will tell you no it is NOT illegal to taunt or intimidate the enemy team, In fact it's used in all sports and esports. However, you do have to be careful on what you are going to say. My best examples are:

What not to say to an enemy team:

"Wow you guys suck, you must all be a bunch of FUCKING RETARDED C U N T S!!! "I can't believe guys are losing SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking bad, noobs. " "GG Fucking Nerds surrender already, you guys are gettting rekt and go cry to your mommy, oh and then kill yourself"

What may be acceptable:

"Get rekt" (Wrecked) "1 v 1 me bro" "Woo hoo, we got first blood, rekt"

Though the first group of comments fall under a few different reports. The second group could also be reported, but really only for "unsportsmanlike conduct" But even that is a stretch. I would also say that, the second group of comments are completely acceptable and are not reported as much as the other group of comments.

It could also depend on how emotional people are themselves. Everybody's emotional status is different. Everyone responds differently to intimidation and trash talk. However, you generally never really know what the other persons emotional state may be at that moment. Long story short, just have respect for others and choose your words carefully.

Again, these are just my opinions on the matter and everyone else is also entitled to their own opinions as well. I hope this helps a little bit in clarifying things more.

Sincerely, Swallower

Good question. Though it could be taken the wrong way of course so there is always that.

Not inherently... but I feel like trash talk can easily fall into the "poor sportsmanship" category.

Depends on what was said. Once my team got aced and the enemy team was pushing tobour nexus but they had 1 wave of super minions at their base. I said "lol look at your base" and they all backed to kill 1 wave of supers instead of ending. My team ended up winning next team fight.

Is using chat to intimidate the enemy team

LOLOLOL.

..

Well at first I thought it was a joke...but then I remembered how soft the people that play this game are, so I guess it's actually a fair question.
