I would view this as ok.
If instead you said: "GG scrub. Hug your tower if you don't wanna feed."
That of course is not ok.
There was an instance where a team faked an afk of one of their teammates and used allchat to do it, somehow the enemy team didnt find out and got stomped when the "afk" jungler finally showed up or something. Was amusing.

I don't see that as calling them unskilled. Even the best players in the world die at some point.
The other player could reply to something like that knowing that their opponent isn't being rude by saying: "Well fought, but it will be you seeking the shelter of their tower next time."
It's all in jest, rile your opponent a little. Most people can take it in stride, some will still go to the extreme and take it personally, but just being objective it's lighthearted and not a personal attack on your character.
I like that kind of back and forth with my opponents, we can talk a little shit to each other (but respectfully) and then laugh at the blunders we make.
It's how I play league. I like making friends, not just with my teammates, but with my opponents. We are all here to have fun, however it doesn't mean we can't be competitive, both in gameplay and in /allchat. As long as everyone takes what is said with a grain of salt, and tries to remain respectful.

People just get really salty after they die, and saying something as simple as "rekt" can make them throw a bitch fit lol. It's hilarious. There's the biggest difference right there. Just because you can't see the difference doesn't mean others can't. Not everybody gets so "salty" after they die that they will cease to see the difference either.
In my personal experience and knowing a few of my friends' reporting behaviour, I can tell you that the same people that report for #2 will not necessarily report #1.

What you and your friends might find as just simple and playful banter might be what others consider rude and inappropriate. It's not about being a "sissy", it's about common etiquette and respect. Also, even the pros of any sport can get in trouble if they take their trash talk too far.

Players shouldnt need to rely on features like the mute button or language filter to engage with other players in positive ways. When a player verbally abuses another player and forces him to use the mute button, they have already created a negative experience for that player.
Simply put, Riot says no. You can scream and cry all you want, but it is their house and their rules.
With that out of the way, I think the topic deserves some further discussion. The theory is that, if people resolved to care less, then they would be happier. I often refer to this as Argument from Stoicism and I think it is a fairly weak philosophy because it places the burden on the person being expected to endure the behavior rather than the person exhibiting the behavior. You should be able to handle it is just a flimsy excuse for being a bully or a jerk. I have to be the bigger man so that you can do whatever you want? That hardly seems fair.
There is also the issue of how I spend my limited free time. Like most people, I am constantly required to make value judgments between the different forms of entertainment that are available to me and, let's be honest, we live in an age of nearly limitless entertainment options. If I'm having a bad day in League, I can just fire up Steam and play a whole bunch of games that don't require me to put up with someone's BS.
This is not an issue of weakness or thin-skin; it's a question of choosing activities that don't leave me feeling frustrated and angry. Too many of those experiences and I'll just find something else to do. Riot knows this.

Trash talk is part of all competitive sports. It happens all the time in the pros.
Yes and no. Yes, trash talk occurs, but it has definite limits. Most of the things that are punished in game (racial, ethnic and homophobic slurs, sexism, etc.) would also earn you a hefty fine in professional sports.

Swallower2 votesHello, In response just to the title of the post/question alone. I will tell you no it is NOT illegal to taunt or intimidate the enemy team, In fact it's used in all sports and esports. However, you do have to be careful on what you are going to say. My best examples are:
What not to say to an enemy team:
"Wow you guys suck, you must all be a bunch of FUCKING RETARDED C U N T S!!! "I can't believe guys are losing SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking bad, noobs. " "GG Fucking Nerds surrender already, you guys are gettting rekt and go cry to your mommy, oh and then kill yourself"
What may be acceptable:
"Get rekt" (Wrecked) "1 v 1 me bro" "Woo hoo, we got first blood, rekt"
Though the first group of comments fall under a few different reports. The second group could also be reported, but really only for "unsportsmanlike conduct" But even that is a stretch. I would also say that, the second group of comments are completely acceptable and are not reported as much as the other group of comments.
It could also depend on how emotional people are themselves. Everybody's emotional status is different. Everyone responds differently to intimidation and trash talk. However, you generally never really know what the other persons emotional state may be at that moment. Long story short, just have respect for others and choose your words carefully.
Again, these are just my opinions on the matter and everyone else is also entitled to their own opinions as well. I hope this helps a little bit in clarifying things more.

For me personally, that makes a huge difference in how I read chat like that; and ultimately how likely I am to report that person at the end of the match (though I really only report extreme cases of trash talk).
Also: Trash talking is an attempt of intimidation/provocation... it's a "strategy" if you will. That means it stops after you've won the game... so no "gg ez" or "gg noobs" or the likes. If you have nothing nice to say about the enemy's performance, just stick to "gg" "wp" or "gg wp".

I've been chatting since the game was released, said plenty of swear words and, admittedly, occasionally I slipped up and started arguing with a rager/troll.
And here I stand and have to read how people apparently are getting banned just for pressing enter. Wow... their system must be slow.
