There's a difference between "noob" as an insult and "noob" as a identifier. The ad is aimed specifically at people who have never played before -- i.e. noobs, by gaming definition. Using it in-game is, 90% of the time, intended as an insulting commentary on someone's in-game play.

"That was a noob mistake I made there" is fine, as is saying "sorry about my friend top lane. He's a noob and is learning the lane"...provided your friend is a new player or new to the lane, but don't use it in an insulting fashion. That's the key difference -- most times players use the term they're using it as an insult.

When your logic just exploded my mind, because when they do it, its to embrace new expiriences, but when i do it, its harassment

The official term newbie (colloquially shortened to newb, noob, n00b, etc) has been in use for much longer than its slang use in the internet. It literally means "someone new to something". In this case, the way you say it matters. If you say

You're such a fucking noob

That is not acceptable. If instead you say

That's ok, we all make noob mistakes

That is acceptable.

Depends on the context. If someone says they're new, yes you can call them noob, as long as it's not in a demeaning way. If you use noob to identify someone as a bad player, yes that's insulting and will still be considered toxic. Please try to use logic and context to understand things. Not everything is always bad or always good.

I love how many posts are talking about "context" but those same people say "context doesn't matter you shouldn't have said that" about reform cards and chat histories. Lol. Hypocritical much?

Can we just be honest and say they are being hypocritical and it's okay for them since it's their game which doesn't make it right but still... I mean I've witness them do other things wrong but they are not perfect. It is their game though so...
