Players with unstable internet connection should not play ranked, and should be punished..

so basically we had a 4v5 the whole game as our syndra kept dcing, our darius feeding, and our karma dcing at the final 15 minutes o f the game, only to reconect as the nexus goes boom. I got fed, but not enough to carry against a fed zed, kennen, and gragas... I was draven adc... If anyone has tips on how to deal with this shit, add me. Also, to Riot: PLease have vainglory's method of handling this, if a teammate dcs ANY TIME DURING THE MATCH then you dont get penalized for losing, but you still get gains for winning. i dont see how that will hurt good players tbh, only stop afkers and trolls. Thanks for listening to me bitch, btw.

they are punished. they get reported for afk , they get flamed and harassed for lagging/dcing in and out of game... they get hit with leave buster penalties and so on... not consider they lose as well and lose LP too...

and if its a remake due to a dc issue... the only one who loses LP for that is the person who dced

I don't mean to sound harsh here, but every time I see posts like this, I just picture a teenager complaining about other people's internet connection while sitting at home playing a video game with the high speed internet the parents pay for.

To an extent i do agree with you. If people are going into games (especially rank matches) knowing full well their internet connection is crappy (or going off and on) they should get a harsher punishment because they are going into their games with knowledge that their connection isnt good.

If its just a random outburst they shouldnt, and they should just get LB as most people with common sense would just stop playing and fix the problem before going into an actual game.

here's my take on your standpoint:

one day it might be you having connection issues. should you get banned as well for having a shortage of internet for lets say 20-30 minutes while your ISP is working on a critical error that suddenly erupted on their systems?

You're not the cause of the connection issues. But you'll still get the leaverbuster as everyone else if this is one day you on the DC'ing end of the. or should riot amp this one up to a 14day ban just for having an issue on the latency?

What if they DCed because of a BSOD (blue screen of Death) suddenly happening during a game. should that person then get suspended for a vast amount of time for something uncontrollable?

Lol banning people because of ISP? You are a moron. Well if you keep up this negative attitude you will surly get perma banned.

I honestly don't understand why this thread has so many downvotes.

In a competitive game mode there should be punishments for repeated disconnects and one of those should include disqualification from ranked for a period of time. If you don't have a stable connection, then you shouldn't be playing this game, period. If your ping is over 150, you shouldn't be playing this game either. I don't get why people would downvote this as it is legitimate.

Then again, it's the Boards where you can always tell if your idea has merit depending upon if it gets downvoted or not... if it gets downvotes you know you're on to something.

You don't know when you internet will go out. If it goes out in the middle of the game, you can't blame them for their ISP being crappy.

Sure we all have lag sometimes it's not like people do it on purpose, but if you have to connect your gameboy color to mcdonalds wifi just don't play ranked, just play customs with friends w/e. At this point so many people are ruining the game with this and all they do is spam their shitty 1500 ping all game to tilt the entire team.

DC's can happen to anyone. Riot doesn't want to unreasonably punish people who are responsible about managing their time, temper, and equipment. That's why LeaverBuster has a certain level of leniency built in. There's less leniency in Ranked than normals, bots, or ARAMs, but it's still there. People who rage quit or play on a connection they know is unstable use up that leniency and start picking up LPQ penalties.

As far as instituting a loss forgiveness system, people have been suggesting that since S1. They've added the remake vote to handle failures to connect. However, allowing one team to dodge a loss due to a leaver means MMR inflation and opens the game to bullying to get the "worst" player to leave or for premades to cycle leaves to avoid losses.

DemonCrow7/20/2017, 3:32:41 PM1 votes

So what? Next time when your connection is unstable, RIOT has the right to punish you then? By then you will be coming back right here crying all over why you have been wrongfully punished.

GD3RD7/20/2017, 6:15:48 PM1 votes

But they weren't punished, because both of them reconnected as the game ended...

As someone with internet problems all the time, I must disapprove...

GreatWhiteNorth7/22/2017, 6:54:08 PM1 votes

They are punished. You lose a couple minutes of your time, and might find game being carries by them.

They lose this much time depending on punishment tier:

25 minutes + Their own dc length 1h40 + Their own dc length
