Commenting is disabled... what does it mean?

So I wanted to comment on a thread when (image) happened. I always thought mods simply remove inappropriate threads. What does it take for a thread to get commenting disabled, but not removed? Just asking out of curiosity.

There are a few reasons commenting may be disabled on a discussion. The most common are that the comments became overly inappropriate in relation to the OP and despite removals it isn't stopping or it could be a discussion that was necro'd and it's best to start a new, relevant discussion rather than dredge up an old one.

If the comments were inappropriate, we tend to leave a message saying that's why it was locked. If there was no comment, check the date of the OP as it's probably a necro.

If the thread itself doesn't really break any rules, but is sparking a toxic discussion, that's usually when the comments are disabled.

I think you clicked and loaded it before the thread was removed. It won't forcibly re-load your tab so that's what happens.

They don't do that as a standard, it's just a per individual case thing.

That happens when you're active on Boards of different Regions (in our case: NA and EUW). Sometimes, the "foreign" board says you are a member of another board region and does that to you. You usually can fix this by simply relogging into your account.

/EDIT: In case it's about the PBE Board: You need to login with your PBE Account, else you can't post anything there.
