Maybe if this game had voice chat

Everyone would be less toxic. Overwatch has voice chat and of course there's toxic people but its not that bad.

This game is so dependent in teamwork, and the community thinks flex Q is irrelevant.

Given these two permise which i would even say are factual, I think its safe to say that everyone gets super frustrated. Every game people are whining about pings and who goes where and whos doing what. Its really rare that I will finish a solo game and people wont be flaming in the lobby after. EVEN THE WINNING TEAM is frequently raging at each other.

I think the root cause of this is a lack of ability to both be inputting all your keyboard and mouse commands as well as accurately displaying your current intention to your team. ESPECIALLY in low elo where players are unable to see everything in a given situation. This is fueled by the fact that even if you are polite you cannot ask someone what they were thinking when they make a mistake that you saw was a mistake a good 15 seconds before they died. Any prompt to self examine a decision is met with hostile retaliation and easily gets the entire team to label the one asking why as toxic.

I have tried all of the following: Why? What made you think that was a good idea? Could you explain why you were at (X) and not at (Y) im legit curious? Id like to know what you were thinking when you went in right there please tell me? Want to know why that was a bad idea and why i knew that before you did it?

Every game I am match made with people who have THOUSANDS of games played. Sure the game changes often, but the overall goal is the same. Youd think by now people could tell what they are doing wrong.

Today I was flamed by a lucian when we lost. He was like 25/13. His KD exponentially went down until we lost. Enemy had literally nothing but nexus for at least 7 minutes with us just getting inhibs and shoved back out eventually to lose to late game vayne. He yelled at me repeatedly saying it was my fault (I was tryn top, took several towers but 8/9/8 KD give or take.) Its everyones fault we lost not just mine. And yeah I didnt have the best game, but he could have just ended it at like 25 mins in instead of letting it turn into an hour long game. I could ltierally make a montage of him chasing blood instead of going for objectives.

Its getting harder and harder to stay interested in this game, and I am repeatedly being told that none of what i am describing will change as i climb elo unless I get WAAAY up there.

And I do believe the root cause is that this almost 8 year old game does not have voice chat for some reason. .-.

Overwatch is a fast-paced game where strategy is not as important as League. You cannot force people to use voice chat. Many do not have the ability to, many do not want to. Voice chat will just end up another way for people to be toxic to their teammates in game.

You can easily just post a discord link into pregame

My two cents on voice chat: Voice chatting, when I use it, makes me less toxic. Why? Because I can hear the tones and rationalize that people are trying to win. If I see a top laner die over and over and over without him saying anything, or if he types "gosh darn it" I might create my own tone of him trolling me in a sarcastic way. When I have him on voice chat, I can hear him being apologetic. I can rationalize that he is trying. There's nothing to hide. My brother, one of the most toxic people I know, uses voice chat from time to time and when he gets mad, he realizes he's getting mad at someone that generally feels bad, a person. So he stops. Voice chat, in my experience, has been nothing but a godsend to toxicity. However, there are obviously some instances where it can be used poorly. There have been a few posts in the past about how difficult it is to be a female gamer in all the chaos and immaturity. So as a male, I cannot speak for them.

When you have the level of anonymity that comes with text only chat, you're more willing to be toxic because in your conscious they can't trace it back to you in a sense.

With voice chat, its more personal/intimate. You get a sense that human beings can hear and identify you more. So people will in my opinion be less likely to be toxic over a voice chat, which is a good thing.

I personally observed someone I met on this game and used to play with in scenarios both with and without voice chat through skype call.

In skype, he was critical... but mildly constructive. I in particular remember a time where we had a Yi, and he was recommending that Yi forget about the Devourer he had (back when devourer was still in game) because he was a bit far behind in getting stacks.

A few days later, no voice chat, he was spewing off things in text chat i dare not repeat unless I want to get myself banned. Granted we were not doing well but some of the things he said... I couldn't believe the sudden difference in his attitude.

That being said, there would also need to be some checks in place if voice chat were implemented in League. Overwatch has an easy way to mute other peoples voice chat, while still allowing text, so that's one thing. That also hints that it should not be required to use the voice chat even if it is available. I've also noticed that a lot of Overwatch players basically make assumptions and look down upon those with a Mic as bad players, and at times even talk about them as if they can't hear them and/or are a lower class citizen or something. So that's something Riot might have to deal with on their end.

Last I heard, they were still working on implementing voice for the game. My only fear is the COD situation; which includes things like shotty mics, intentional music blaring trolls, squekers, and general toxicity. So long as the option of muting still exists, I encourage voice chat.

In terms of another post you added later: custom games still exist. I have a guy i added from the forums specifically for that. Community created games and rules may not be as big, but are still there. (or did I misunderstand that post?)

We know strategy is important and effective communication helps, just like with Pro play.

if we ever get voicechat... every person that cries flames rages or whatever, i will laugh so hard about them and they will be able to hear me. i will laugh till they smash their fucking pc and then i laugh even harder cause thats what toxic players are to me. a joke to laugh about.

I use to be all for voice chat but here is the problem with making everyone use it - You can't guarantee it will help in every game and that people will use it in the right way. I was recently in a game with people I had just met that day (we were getting along) until we decided to go a normal instead of an aram. 2 of the guys I was playing with were shit talking me (I wasn't feeding, I was doing well) because I picked something they didn't like in a normal game and was practicing even though they were practicing too. Eventually I left the call because I was tired of them using voice comms which were supposed to make the game fun to ruin it.

no ones going to be less toxic. Your silver because YOURE bad. Thats it. Youre not magically going to enjoy the game, judging by your posts you are a toxic person anyway. You have a less than 50% WR in the worst elo in this game. YOU are the problem. 8 years of league and still in silver? Your opinion doesnt matter- you have no idea what goes into making a champ OP or UP. If you did, you wouldnt be a toxic low silver. You actually call people autistic lol.
