How does that happen?

I disconnected at the start of a game and ended up getting leaverbuster a while ago. Talk to riot support they might be able to help.

I mean it was only 5 minutes but I think it's a bug worth looking into

Yea just let them know that something like that happened, and who knows there might be something bugged in their leaverbuster system.

I just posted in the bug section. A game got dropped due to someone dodging and my 5 minutes was reassessed. Talk about lame.

cos clicking around the fountain counts as AFK, the system is able to see that.

Bottom line, AFK=not contributing

The entire TEAM was doing that. We had a dc, and a trolling Ezreal. 15 mintute ff failed so the 3 of us sat on fountain to end the game. It was a unanimous team decision that saw ezreal reported for voting no so he could continue to troll.

Then the team probably all got leaverbuster punishments. Leaverbuster is an automated system, it doesn't care that you all were ok with it or that Ez was trolling, all it cares about is that you were functionally afk for at least 5min. If your team wants to open mid and everyone agrees to it just go to a side lane and farm or run around the junlge.

If even one person wasn't ok with it, then it's not the entire team and thus, a punishable offense.

Also, you don't get bustered for 1 game. There has to be a consistent history of you AFKing to get punished.

Well I did get busted for one game. One game I wasn't even technically afk in. Unless this goes as far back as a year, the most recent afk even would have been over a month ago. After that, none what so ever. I'm very careful about making sure I have time to play my matches.

It resets after 3 or 6 months of good behavior (I.e. No AFK and minimal dodging), so yes, it does go back that far.

That's actually kinda fucked up. For a game that takes so long for games to finish so many things can happen. Power outage from a thunder storm. Shit power outage from hitting a telephone pole. Family emergencies. computer crashes. Game crash. I find it highly unfair to persons who are actively playing this game that these things can and will happen to. It's the people who frequently abuse and leave games that should be pinging the radar on weekly, maybe monthly bases. Going as far back as a half a year is very, in my opinion, unprofessional as a company, to be doing that to people given the aforementioned possibilities. This isn't a 5 minute Rocket League match.

I repeat: you don't get leaver bustered because of just one game. You are punished due to your AFK history and that history doesn't suddenly decay or get deleted.

One month is nothing when it comes to decaying of the leaver buster system. Plus it is dependant on games played, not time.

The information provided by Swegmec is not verifiable information; however, I can tell you now that LeaverBuster is less of a function of the time between leaves, and more of a function of the number of leaves over the course of a number of games. Ranked is a bit different; there is less leniency for leaves in Ranked, so punishments may escalate much more quickly. From the moment you press "Queue", and especially from the moment the game begins, all players are expected to play the game from start to finish.
