Can I be banned if nobody reports me?

First of all, I'm not looking for a way to be toxic without getting caught by making sure none of my team reports me. I just wanna get that out of the way.

Me and my friends like to harass each other constantly, but it's all just for fun and nobody actually gets their feelings hurt. However, I have been reported a few times when we didn't have a full premade, and the random just thought we were terrible people who didn't know each other & yelled at each other for every mistake. I will try to be more careful about what I say around randoms, but do I need to watch what I say around a full group of my friends? If nobody is reporting us, can we still get punished somehow?

No, due to the insane amount of games played every second and only one team to read the chat logs you need to be bumped enough by reports for them to notice you

The issue still stands yet it might take less reports (around 3% of the playerbase in NA have received chat restrictions and worse so that is still a rather large amount of people). Although I would have to be an arbiter to know how their system of detection works around previously punished players

yeah i guess it's not really high priority for riot unless it's a lot of reports all at once

Generally one report consistently over maybe 5 or so games with different players can trigger an action, less so for multiple reports but not by much

i dont really know how the report system works, all i know is with the exception of playing with friends and sarcastically hating each other im chill now so i wont be getting reported anymore besides that. thanks!

Look at this guy being from the Oceanic server pulling out the NA statsistics. I like you. XD

Lyte has said that you move down a tier of punishment after 3 months. Punishments go as follows:

10 chat restriction 25 chat restriction 14 day ban permaban

If you got a 25 chat restriction it would take 3 months to move down to the 10 game chat restriction and another 3 months to be back to a normal level. Does that make sense?

i actually had no idea that's how it worked, thanks! i've gotten a lot better at coping with anger issues on and off of league but i was worried if i slipped up and said something stupid to my friends it would get me permabanned.

Yes, you can improve your standing by going 3 months without incident. So if you just got a 25 game chat restriction you would be back to neutral after 6 months of keeping your nose clean.

Also, just so there isn't any misinformation, it takes 3 months to drop down one tier of penalties, not to 0.

If no one reports you, then the system ignores you.

That said, I don't know for certain if the system will skip you if someone on the other team blindly reports you, so I'd advise you to use voice chat for that kind of stuff.

that's true, but i don't see the point of blindly reporting anyone..... do people really just report the enemy team when they havent said anything all game?

Who knows, some people claim they get reported for nothing at all. I would hope that the system is smart enough to know that the enemy team can only see some of your chat and evaluate you based on that, but I don't know for certain.

Previously (that is, in the old Tribunal), the system would ignore any team-chat from a 5-man pre-made. There may have been an exception if there were allied reports in the game, but I don't remember ever seeing such a case, so I can't say with certainty.

I don't see any reason they would have changed that part of the system - it was quite effective at ensuring that groups of friends who were communicating exclusively among themselves wouldn't be punished for what amounted to private chat.

According to Lyte they do plan to bring back the Tribunal next year after New Champ Select is released. Anyways, as far as I know unless you're caught doing something like Elo Boosting or Account Selling for example then you won't get punished for nobody reporting you. That said though you should still be careful about what you say and how you act around strangers, as what may be funny and humorous to you may not be to other people that you don't know.

Honestly, I don't see any reason for it not to be. The thinking behind that system hasn't changed, and it wouldn't be especially difficult, I don't think, to edit the logs before they're reviewed (especially since they're quite obviously edited afterwards for the Reform Cards).

That's not to say it must still be present - only that I don't think it would offer any benefit to remove it.
