How Do Reports Really Work?

Yesterday, me and my friend were in a game with a Duo bot lane. They fed and flamed all game. The support was harassing my friend who was jungle throughout the match and at one point said "Kill yourself" which I believed is ban/suspension worthy. My friend said KYS once and got a 14 day suspension (that was his first ever punishment). While the ADC harassed me even though I was doing pretty well. He even called me a "%%%tron" which is hate speech and I believe can lead to a ban/suspension. I'm just wondering, why have they not been punished but my friend got a 14 day suspension for the same thing and it was his first ever punishment?

A report flags that player for that match. If they did punishable behavior, and are eligible to be punished (which is a lot of factors), they'll be punished, entirely independent of circumstances (Beyond issues on Riot's end, such as their service going down).

Your friend was punished because he broke rules. Others on the team did, too. And he was punished for it.

Some people just don't get ban/suspension o _o either that or I have the bad luck of playing with people I reported 3 matches ago, doesn't really matter either way LoL is going down hill, the new BE system is trash the people that support it are oblivious of what it gives down the line (they are only looking at the present) the amount of afk people, people that play with terrible internet that lag the entire game and still keep playing knowing fully well they can't play this game, the people that refuse to surrender (and in this case me being trapped in a match where said people refuse to surrender and I have the best stat line of the team makes me give 0 flying . . . . to the point I stick to my lane and proceed to do nothing until the match is over, when I have the worst stat line sure if they don't wanna surrender I'll back them up to the best of my ability), oh trollers altough I have only found 2 of those in the past week o _o, and currently I'm facing the fact that I either choose a hyper carry and win by my self with little help of the team or the chances of winning are less then 50% which is weird it almost feels like in order for the match to be balanced I get placed with people of less skill to balance my skill while the enemy team gets a fully balanced team no clue, just know I can start a match as a support go8/0/6 first blood and look at the K/D and we died 15 more times then the enemy team even if bot lane has 0 deaths . . . . .

They likely did get punished. the system doesn't always notify people of successful reports. It is a sometimes yes sometimes no Thing with those notes

All those things can result in an auto-ban, sure. For some reason, folks occasionally don't get caught right away, but if you look at just a handful of threads on this part of the forum, you'll see how often they DO get caught.

Note that even if a punishment is issued, that doesn't necessarily mean you'll get a message stating that somebody you reported got punished. Only the final report triggering a punishment will get that message, and the guys you're complaining about probably got reported by several people.

Every league account has like a list of number which consists of: 1. Bans that have been approved after sending report 2. Bans that were not accepted after sending report 3. Amount of times that account has been banned 4. Amount of warnings that account has received and etc.

Less reports you send and more those reports are are effective ( the guy was banned ) the more chances that your next report will be approved. It is like a Karma system i do not know to name it. So sending reports left and right makes "System/Program" see you as a spammer and your voice counts less.

KYS is a very situational ehm curse, i guess, there are a lot of people who spam it with sarcastic intentions, but of course there are toxic people who actually think like that. I can tell you all that stuff about muting that people and etc., but i think you already know that. Also worth mentioning that nothing is perfect same as judgement system sometimes. Also you can speak to riot support if you have evidences of riot terms of use violations.

Reports trigger a review of that game for whatever reasons you checked.

By itself a report =/= punishment, but can lead to one.

Hate speech, racial slurs, homophobic slurs, and such usually results in an escalated punishment of a 14 day ban.

Reports do work. 1 report = 9 reports. If you guys reported them, they should have been caught by the system. You don't get notified in some cases yet they do get banned. If you are really curious, make a ticket and ask a Rioter if the players got banned. Also, it's best to mute toxic players instead of doing what your friend did which is saying the exact words back. Doesn't help the situation and will only put you guys at a greater risk of getting banned.

A single report flags the game for review. The rest do nothing. For example, if everyone were to report me and I weren't toxic, nothing will happen to me. If I'm the only one who reports someone who uses hate speech and says "KYS", that person will be punished. If it's one of those reports that slipped through the cracks, I'd go here.

FUN NEW UPDATE: Recently played a game with a sweetheart enemy Vayne, she did good all game and her team threw. In the post game lobby she called me a queer and the n-word multiple times. Let's see if she gets punished [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
