Do you ever have "that" game that makes you want to cry?
As a disclaimer, I'm not making this as a statement about Riot's report system AT ALL. Things like this just happen, and I just want to vent about it.
So, we start off the game. I, playing Skarner, ask the Fiora for a leash. Just for some insight, I am high honor level 3, was five before the season changed. I have never been banned, and the stats say that 70% of my honors are GG <3. I'm not a bad guy to be around. Anyway, I ask the Fiora for a leash while I'm in a videochat with my sweet girlfriend (she's such a treasure; I'll marry her someday). I barely have time to register that the Fiora asked for my help in the lane to come, since the Kled has ignite before she cusses Thresh out for asking if Jhin wants to play safe or go ham in lane.
I scrolled up to see what Thresh did to her...and he has ONLY said that. Wanting to diffuse the situation, I say "Whoa whoa chill." Apparently that was a bad move. Fiora types "chill" as she leaves me without a leash as red spawns. Before I can even react, she walks straight into lane, all ins the Kled with ignite in his minion wave, and dies. Not one second later, she quits and NEVER comes back.
Cool, I honestly don't mind. The enemy team, who I've been chatting with, is nice and they give their sympathy. I then offer that BOTH teams just play around until 15 minutes, when we can do an early surrender. I would like to draw special attention to this next part: both teams agree.
I walk around from lane to lane, dancing, flashing over a wall to dance at someone. Everyone is having a nice time, and my team has taken to using me as bait to kill people here and there. Both teams are talking in allchat and we're just killing time until the 15 minute mark. At such time, the surrender vote.... fails.
The Thresh then starts flaming me for "inting," when I only died intentionally once, when I flashed over a wall to dance under a turret (their Amumu somehow got credit). Otherwise, I've been farming casually just for fun, and they've gotten kills off of me. The rest of the team follows suit, flaming me constantly out of NOWHERE. The surrender vote fails again. The Sivir then utters the phrase that tilts me completely. She says "Yeah, you're stuck with us." Thresh then says, "we can win this man, why are you inting?" To state again, I have not been inting. They also have 5-6 turrets to our 0, and 20 kills to our 7. Upset, I bid my girlfriend goodnight. I have to work soon, and I had been hoping to have a quality game before I had to work. I'm starting to get really depressed from this toxicity from my team, and I state this in the end of game chat (I'm not a naturally depressed person. It honestly takes a lot to get me down.). Thresh, who was the main proprietor of this toxicity, seems genuinely surprised as I say, "Thanks for ruining my night, Sivir."
The other team was SO encouraging. One of them even requested that I add them (which I did). I teared up a bit as their encouraging words and empathy for my situation came through the screen.
It happens, I know. It's not anyone's fault, I know. I'm not complaining about the report system because it's actually really good. Some people are toxic in outlier cases, and the system isn't going to ban anyone for one or two instances of toxicity per year. While this post was originally just intended for me to vent, I think I do have a point to make. When people are toxic, try to be the person that makes the victim feel better. Sure, it's just a game, but the people on the other team, on your team, are not. While winning and losing doesn't make a difference, you can make the difference in ruining their night or making them tear up with gratitude they see the entire enemy team tell them that they feel their pain and wish that the rest of their...my...night is better.
I hope you have a good day, and I hope that you help make someone else's day better too.
