When is it ok to flame?

This whole censor stuff is BS. Unless it's racist, homophobic, telling people to "kys" stuff, you shouldn't face consequences (losing honor is fine) for flaming your trolling teammates. Isn't that what the mute button is for? If you don't like me flaming you after you face-check a bush in the enemy jungle and die for the 10th time, after I spam pinged on your face, then mute me. Or even when I'm not flaming initially but my team decides to run around the map like idiots instead of focusing objectives. If I'm carrying and split pushing a lane I will ping an objective for my team to get. I'm way up my lane and I expect the enemy team to come after me. It would be a perfect time for my team to get an objective somewhere else on the map. But instead I suddenly have 3 junglers on my team. They don't put any pressure on the map, despite my pings, so I get 5 man ganked. Now I'm pissed. It seems natural that I would vent my frustration at my team for ignoring my pings and not playing the game. Then they pull that BS "why so salty?" I don't think anyone should be punished for flaming their team in this situation.

Or those times when my team is losing (nothing wrong with that) and it's clear we aren't going to win. We have no turrets, enemy has 5 at least. No objectives. And every lane is behind in gold. Ok let's cut our losses, surrender, and move on right? Nope! My teammates think we can win this game, which unless we suddenly and miraculously start acing the enemy team over and over, there's no way to come back. I gently try to convince my team to surrender, "Let's go team. We're all too far behind. If it was just one or two players behind I'd say sure, let's stick it out but we're all behind. Let's just cut our losses, surrender and move on" NOpe. They would rather drag out a loss for 30-40 minutes (even in NORMALS). Now these aholes are deliberately wasting my time so I get pissed. Every other game let's you leave in a situation like this. Not LOL. You're forced to stay or get penalized. So now I'm stuck in this game. At this point I see no point in playing anymore. They are just wasting my time. We're all dying like flies no matter what we do so I'm going to flame my team for forcing me to waste my time.

This game has honestly gotten so incredibly frustrating, just because I have a majority of games with teammates like the ones mentioned above. Riot needs to address the root cause of flaming rather than flaming itself. I don't know what to do with players like this because they aren't trolling in the traditional sense and if there is nothing to do about them, then don't punish players for getting mad at their teammates when they deliberately do stupid stuff. Basically I'm venting here and wondering if anyone else feels this way. The game itself is great, but the players are the absolute-rage-inducing-worst aholes I've ever experienced in any game.

Don't let the trolls win!

Didn't read the wall of text, probably the usual stuff about how the team sucks and you have the right to tell them.

When is it ok to flame?

Never.

When is it okay to flame? Easy.

When you're not playing League.

Flaming is simply not allowed in League regardless of circumstances. Mute, report, and move on. No game company can truly stop someone intent on making a team experience miserable, and reporting them and letting the system do its thing is about the best we can do.

It's ok to flame when you're out in the cold and need a fire to keep warm. Then make some flames and get close to fire. You can also flame inside if you have a proper fireplace.

Be sure to exercise good caution and follow proper fire safety protocols.

Seriously? Learn to control your anger. Being angry in and of itself is not necessarily wrong, but what you do with that anger is almost always the problem.

There is almost never justification to flame, rage, and be toxic.

Short answer? Never. It's not constructive, doesn't accomplish anything except making the game worse for everyone (flamers included)
