Idea: People who report should also be put through behavior checking algorithms

I've seen a number of people on my friends list and in the forum get punished for negative behavior that they were obviously pushed into. While I can understand that they actually did break rules and that's a logical reason to punish them, what annoys me is the idea that the person who was 10 times as horrible to them till they finally lost their cool is probly going to get away with it.

The fact that the tickets you see pop up on the forums every now and then only has one person's side of the conversation is kind of proof that Riot knows that other players are bringing out negative behavior in their victims. If people saw both sides of the conversation, it would be easier to forgive the original victim's rule breaking behavior so it's hidden on tickets.

It really seems like the best thing to do is have the system look at your own actions as well when you report somebody so that trolls can't just push people past their limits and get them punished without getting in trouble themselves. This would also encourage peolpe to keep their cool when somebody is being an obvious problem and needs to be reported.

This would just enforce positive play style since you can't get in trouble if you didn't do anything. I don't know why you would be afraid to go through a drug test if you never did drugs.

I personally believe there's a significant amount of people who don't report trolls due to a lack of motivation, but that's not even that important. I know enough about programming to know that this idea is likely simple to implement. It's well worth it even if it only ends up behavior checking a few hundred cases that wouldn't have been behavior checked otherwise. It's probly nothing more than function call.

behaviorCheck(report.reportingPlayer.playerID);

Also, for those of you that are saying this would discourage people from reporting. There's one of 2 things going on. Either you don't understand that this system isn't actually punishing anybody for reporting; it's just saying that if you report, you should also get put through player behavior algorithms. Or you're just naturally assuming a reporting player is just as guilty as the player they report. In which case, yeah, they should be afraid. That's kind of the point. Trolls should be afraid to report players that they trolled. And victims should be afraid of resorting to a trolls level if they want to report them. This either discourages trolls from trying to get players banned, or it encourages victims to behave themselves in response to trolls.

I don't really disagree, but it seems unnecessary. You can accomplish this now by just reporting that person yourself. So why waste resources scanning people who didn't get reported?

The system is community driven, which means no report means you think that player's behavior is acceptable.

And why do you assume players report for nothing all the time? Or that Riot hasn't already accounted for 'nothing' reports? The already devalue report weight for people who do it for unpunishable games.

If a troll 'pushes' someone into retaliating, they should be reported. And just because you don't get the "A player you reported has been punished" message, doesn't mean they aren't getting punished.

I admit, I do miss seeing the full chat logs. It did give context to the player's behavior. Even if it didn't alway change how I would have voted it did make it easier to explain to the player better ways to have responded to specific incedences and not just the generic "Mute, Report, Move on".
