I have a really sinking feeling right now...

Yup, I'm a little upset. I have been trying to be pleasant and nice to people. Of course I have my moments, we all do. But when I have people regularly telling me in various and colorful ways to go kill myself every other game, and I mostly just mute them and try to ignore it, it eventually starts to get to you. So yeah, I am a little upset right now. This needs to stop. You do not talk to people this way. Would you say that to them if they were sitting right next to you? If not, then why does this community feel like it is okay to talk like this through a screen? I reported BOTH of the players who were telling me to kill myself in my last game, but I'm not confident that anything will be done about it. I know riot tries, with their impressively large player base it can be hard to keep players in check. I don't think this is their fault. I think this is YOUR fault. You, the players, who I constantly see complaining about bans and stuff on the forums, etc.... JUST BE NICE TO PEOPLE. IT'S NOT THAT HARD.

I believe that the league toxicity problem is present but not to the degree we might think it is. A toxic or rude player leaves a much greater impact on us than the silent players but the toxic players are not the majority.

My point being that the "then why does this community feel like it is okay to talk like this through a screen?" is a bit harsh considering the countless players that are not toxic and the community term would describe ALL players.

If you keep facing hostilities with a positive attitude I believe that players will change in time, and the "community" will evolve. Don't give up hope. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

That's the same thing they said back 30 or so years ago to society and now we have people running around shooting up everything, every other day. This nice bullshit only works if the people you are being nice to is receptive of it. Those that could give a shit will take advantage of it, exactly what is happening in present day in real life.

My opinion, but give me other theories and lets talk.

I'll add you when I find the time, about to be on my way to a job interview, but I'm not sure if we can play ranked together. I usually prefer to play mid, and you seem to be playing nothing but karthus mid :p But maybe if you're down for some casual games we can play sometime

You spend too much time on the internet. The internet is NOT A microcosm of society. The internet is an anti social place where people spew vile shit just to offend people on purpose. Go talk to people, go live in the world and make friends and start conversations with strangers. The evilness you perceive is because of the environment you live in. If you stop going on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, game forums, etc... you'll find your outlook on society changing greatly. It did for me. All of the anti social media things these days are the most evil places I've ever visited. Nothing but forcing opinions, yelling at eachother over opinions, judging others based on a few lines of dialogue... it's an unhealthy, anti social place. Go talk to PEOPLE, not your computer, and tell me how many evil situations you were in.

Just in a really bad mood. Lost faith in humanity some time ago--all because of this game. as if Crossfire, Maplestory, AVA and all the other stuff wasn't bad enough to begin withm.

Are Asians not a part of humanity? xD I'm just pulling your leg. I have been watching a lot of anime for years, so I'm sure that it has instilled a few Japanese values in me. Some have even changed my entire outlook on life (Clannad made me shed many manly tears)

EDIT: Apparently my wording was off here, someone got the idea that I am generalizing all Asians based on anime. That period there is a break point, I stopped talking about Asians in general and began SPECIFICALLY talking about values that you find in JAPANESE anime only, because it is the only thing Asian I can even remotely relate to.

? Woah there, I was talking specifically about Japanese values that you will find in almost any good Japanese anime. I can assure you I was not generalizing all Asians. I'm not one of those people who think I know everything about Japanese culture just because I watch anime, anime doesn't even give a good depiction of Japanese life and culture. And I know that Japan doesn't represent the rest of Asia, every country has its own unique culture. You just made a LOT of faulty assumptions about my comment, which didn't even go that deep to begin with, so I hope this sets it straight. I was just curious why he thought I might be Asian, and he didn't even mention what specific nationality of Asian so I brought up the only thing I could relate to. I made absolutely zero generalizations in my post.

You mention Asians, and then start rambling about anime exclusively. It's not really your fault, it's just ignorant.

Japan isn't the only asian there is. You know that, but somehow anime is the only thing you can relate to and recognize from among the Asian countries.

I understand why you're upset. I'm currently going through a bout of depression myself, so I'm somewhat vulnerable to these attacks too. I think it's important for us to understand that most of the "toxic" people you see in these games or on boards don't start off that way; they're just people like you or I that get fed up with the other flame, or real-life events, or personal loss, and things that happen to them in game, like being flammed or losing 9 games in a row really get to them. I hope that you were able to be compassionate even during your times of stress.

I'm not vulnerable to depression myself, but I do have anxiety. I am sorry to hear about the depression you are going through, I hope that things get better for you. Keep your head up. As for me, yeah I was stressed out over this for about 20 minutes and just wanted to vent, after that I was over it. But the message is still there, we all need to be nicer to people if we expect this to stop any time soon. Let's lead the charge!
