How to make the Honor System just a bit better

The new honor system is good. I like it when we make it a large potion of the game for people to consider who behaving well and poorly. However, there seems to be a small problem I think, which can be quickly solved. This problem is the small honor bonus when every teammate gives out honors. The problem is that everyone is incentivised to honor regardless of if people behaved poorly or not just to level up their honor. I feel like our honor should be valuable to our teammates, and in this system, while it is, it is also valuable to yourself, as if you do not give honor, you will not receive bonus honor. This leads to a system where everyone may give honor, just for their own interest. We shouldn't be punished for not giving honor. I give great importance to player behavior, and i shouldn't be punished when I feel my team doesn't deserve honor bonus.

Okay, so how would we go about fixing this? I propose something similar to the Prisoner's Dilemma. The bonus honor system can work as it does now, except you can also get bonus honor for not giving honor. Ideally, everyone giving out honor should still be the most honor-profit, but you will also still receive bonus honor at varying amounts depending on how many other players also did not give honor. So how would this work? The numbers would be very important to show how it works, and here's an example and case:

  • All players give honor: All 5 team members receive 250 honor
  • 4 players give honor: All members get 200 honor, except the one who did not give honor receives 205 honor
  • 3 players give honor: All members get 100 honor, except the other two who did not give honor receives 210 honor
  • 2 or less players gave honor: All players receive 200 honor, except the two who DID GIVE honor receives 205 honor
  • No players gave honor: All players receive 200 honor

These numbers can vary, and I quickly rechecked the numbers to make it seem like it would work intuitively, but the point at hand is that we shouldn't be punished for not giving honor, and more importantly, not be punished for holding a higher value of player behavior.

Instead of post-game asking "who deserves honor" it should be like "who do you not want to report"

smurfs named something like "nill kiggers.." should get all their acc's perm banned

Just gonna put in another message to possibly bring that back to attention. I feel this is very important and needs to be discussed. Whether this is the plan of action we take or not, it needs to be addressed. I more than often after every game find myself now just quickly, and randomly giving anyone a un-tilt honor really quickly just to leave onto the next game. I would like not to do this, but with no real reason to think about giving other players honor, or at least not worth your time, or out of good nature, I just quickly move on.

If I don't honor someone, I'm 100% guaranteed to not get an honor bonus, and having the choice to not give honor is only hurting myself, I'm just going to give honor randomly to whoever. It's a shame, if we don't address this, I consider the honor system a failure, for me at least since I don't really think about who deserves honor.

With no real reason to think about who should deserve honor, it's just an honor grind at this point. So remember, always give honor, because in the long run, you're only hurting yourself by not giving it.
