So I got bullied out of league

About four months ago I had to stop playing league because I was going ten to fifteen matches between having a single friendly person on my team. I was receiving constant verbal abuse from individuals who did not know me. I am not the best player, but I do consider myself good at the game but the simple fact was I was being belittled and berated even if we were winning. I have a policy about not using chat if its not to call strat or say something positive I try not to provoke conflict. But there was a consistent theme of individuals using derogatory terms on random individuals the moment we loaded onto the rift and it was too late to doge. I played League to unwind a little and I still do love the game play even though its been months.

A few weeks ago I got sent a video of a Rioter talking about how they were trying to change up the honor system and maybe segregate out players based on sportsmanship. I just want to post and ask if the community is getting better or worse and whether or not I should get back in to League.

Well, the update isn't live yet, so it remains to be seen how the new honor system will impact toxicity.

But hey, if you aren't having fun, no sense in playing. League isn't your duty.

You know there are actual steps you can take to reduce the amount of verbal abuse you have to put up with, such as the following:

  1. Disable /all chat in your settings if you don't believe it's worthwhile.
  2. Enable the language filter included in League of Legends to censor inappropriate language.
  3. Mute players who are verbally abusing you and focus on the game instead of negative comments made by strangers.

The community is shit but usually just in the lower elos. Regardless though, no one is bullying you out of this game. It's your choice to stop playing or to continue playing, but don't make it seem as if you were completely helpless and given no options to counteract the verbal abuse that goes on in your games. The honor system might help a bit, but I highly doubt you'll notice a significant difference.
