Playing in an Intoxicated state should be punishable.

I didn't know where exactly to post this so i went with the PB since punishment fits this sub board the best.

Anyway. Players who go to a game, hard lose it for their team and think they get away by saying stuff like "I'm high" or "Sorry, had a beer too much" Should receive the punishment hammer. An Intoxicated state should NOT be allowed to serve as a greenlighted, validate excuse for ruining the game. The IFS system should be upped to recognize inchat confessions about being under substance while playing a game and deliver a temp-ban (But not a perma. Let's be reasonable, that'd be too much)

An intended limitation on decisionmaking for the sake of your own, selfish fun, not only in itself has already been made clear is not tolerated unless the whole team specifically approves to it, but the assumption that it serves as an excuse for it is bullshit. Your own fun is not the team's fun, and that has multiple times now caused great public stress and discussions which were ultimately shut down by rioters confirming that if the whole team doesn't agree to it, it isn't okay.

Toxication should not be an exception to that statement.

TL;DR playing drunk or high should be punishable by more than just a lost game.

I agree with OP. It’s not fair to the other people you are playing with. Sure the person being under the influence might be having fun, but it’s not fun for the people on your team that have to deal with your poor intended lack of decision making.

it doesn't help that Riot has quite literally stated that having fun at the expense of your own team is intolerable under the assumption that it is trolling. The one thing that bothers me most is that people think being intoxicated is an excuse rather than a justification.

I for one enjoy playing league when on LSD. I dont play ranked games and usually only play on PBE now but I have a lot of fun doing it and like to understand how I react during different points of the trip. While my decision making goes down the drain, my execution goes up the roof. I can easily dodge things and my clicks per second double if not triple when sober.

The most important part is that I am having FUN. Im not stressing and just enjoying the visuals and gameplay.

And at who's costs has that come so far? Yeah you might have fun, but do the others have it, too? Is it fun for them when you hard-lose the game without giving a single fuck just because you think it is okay for you?

This argument is the very reason for this post. Egotism is no excuse for anything. Your fun is not their fun. And League revolves around all of you 5, not just you as one person.

it is no reason, no justification and no excuse that you play intoxicated and think you get away with it solely because you alone enjoyed it.

Whoa. I never said I played bad. I may do things that end up questionable but I also announce I am on LSD and what stage im at and how I am feeling so they get an understanding and usually all is good and I and the team usually end up having a fun time not taking shit seriously.

While I agree to an extent that what you are saying it right. I cant agree with your fun is not their fun because at the end of the day it is a GAME. Team game or single, if you are having fun then go have fun. As selfish as it sounds, your happiness comes first and should always come first. That doesnt mean their wont be consequences to you feeding your ass off but when you take the mindset I just mentioned into play then you knowingly accept the consequences and continue on. If you get banned then you can figure out why you got banned. The genre of the game doesnt get to dictate how your fun is had but be ready for the consequences.

sorry my knowledge of drugs isnt the best but isnt LSD illegal and also pretty dangerous?

Eternal Torment2 votes

That, too, is a factor. Most consumables are considered unlawful, alcohol and tabac being the only globally legal substances. Weed, in some countries, is arguably legal under medical description but LSD like this guy says he takes is highly illegal. And incase he argues back, no, correct dosage or not, the very consumption in itself is not allowed, nobody cares if you walk away physically unharmed by taking it.

Ignoring the public scandal Riot would suffer from turning a blind eye on drug-consuming players, the Ideology that it is okay because the consumer itself, and only he/she, is okay with it, needs to end as well. A Game in LoL consists of 10 players, one feeling good doesn't justify the other 9 feeling shitty.

i personally dont wanna get involved into this. all i know is everytime i have someone ingame saying stuff like "im so fucking stoned" they suck. so personally... i'd prefer ppl not to play while on drugs.

The global legal substances are more dangerous than the illegals ones since they are easier to get and are just as addicting. LSD is much safer than any of those drugs mentions besides weed but weed has it's other big problems. I never mentioned how much the dosage is but regardless of the dosage I am able to keep my cool and play because I understand my limits. Now not everybody is like that and as I mentioned above that they understand the consequences of feeding, intoxicated or not and it goes from there.

People can kill people but morals and consequences stop them from doing so. Apply this to league and its the same things. Not everyone is going to play intoxicated but some will and everybody understands the consequences. What happens from that it up to riot's justice system.

It is a class 1 drug if I remember correctly which means very illegal. Dark web is a great place to get illegal things. Anything can be dangerous if done excessively but OD'ing on it is virtually impossible. You get a high tolerance after taking it and it lasts around 8 hours from my experience. It doesnt melt your brain or stay in your spine as some old ass myths would like you to believe. If you have mental illness in your family or have any at the time them it could be risky as the LSD might cause an episode of said mental illness or bring up hereditary mental illnesses. As long as you are aware that you took a DRUG and that it will be over soon there is no worrying to be had. I personally think everyone should try LSD once in their lives because its something that cant truly be explained and must be experienced.

It sure beats weed imo cause there is no obnoxious smell to give people headaches and smoking isnt good for the lungs no matter the substance. The most dangerous drugs are legal sadly. Alcohol and cigs which can kill you faster and are far more dangerous than any amount of LSD.

Stay away from sites like this https://www.drugfreeworld.org/drugfacts/lsd.html, they love to demonize drugs without ever exploring the positive and spread false or not complete information which ends up causing more harm than good.

I don't have knowledge on LSD under controlled consumption, and i'm not inviting myself to find it out, but I do know it's effects on high dosages or overdosages.

Having said that, I wouldn't necessarily recommend LSD for an everyman's consumption. One thing it does at all stages of it's taking in is amp sensitivity. And i'd rather not see people who don't talk about stress-indulging problems consume something that massively thins the damm that holds their emotions. May not be the case for everyone, but again, also, i don't look at the few in this case, only at the many.

If it really, and i mean REALLY, works out for you, then i can't stop you even if i wanted to (which believe me i do want to, badly). But that shouldn't mean that now everyone can play the game while on a trip to god knows where.

And to simultaneously reply to the answer you gave to me: The question isn't so much as to how badly you performed, the question is at who's expense was it. People mostly don't speak up out of the dread for getting punished. Sure, the punishment system won't immediately ban someone if they call you a druggie, but the stereotype that it will is very strongly present, and the only people who really disregard it are smurfs....which would equal to 2 out of 10 players per game you face.

And as for the fun direction, usually what you said is right. but that logic by public announcement doesn't apply to LoL. An example i very much love to bring up are the smite singed and smite nunu support cases. They always communicated with their team, made their intentions clear, had fun, played good, won a lot, yet they still went and received banthreats from rioters because your fun cannot come at the expense of your team's regardless of your peformance. Since lol is an egomanic's game, winning still feels frustrating to a lot of people because it wasn't how they wanted it to be.

Don't get me wrong, i'd love for lol to allow people their fun, but only in rare occassions will people find fun in the game without somehow disregarding and/or disrespecting someone else within that same game. I agree to having fun, but i don't agree to it being at expenses regardless of how well someone played or how hard that player won the game for the team.

As selfish as it sounds, a win isn't satisfying if it had to be done with angry gritting teeth.

That is a riot games problem and we cant fix that. Riot giving bans cause people wanna play unorthodox ways and are successful at times without say but the moment they fuck up its ban threats is a problem. I cant speak for them on that.

On the drug note. LSD can and will chew you up and spit you out if you dont respect it. This is why telling people "DRUGS ARE BAD" only harms them, because they dont do research and when confronted with a choice to take it, end up not having any knowledge on it because they havent been told anything besides "dont do it" and are surprised and scared when shit hits the fan. I have the common sense to research something and test it before taking it. Even then I make sure I am in the proper setting and not to be excessive. OD'ing on LSD is rare and there havent been any reported cases of someone dieing directly related to OD'ing on it. This doesnt mean you cant take doses way out of your comfort zone and freak out.

People in PBE would call me druggie and make fun of me when I announced it without repercussions or care it seems. Those who asked how I was or what I was feeling or seeing asked with little care and I guess just wanted to get an explanation to the experience. MY experience has been great and my game quality improved I feel. I cant be inside everyone's mind so I dont know how they really felt but I can never know unless they tell me and those that did tell me told me and I took it into consideration to play a bit more safe and careful, allowing my team to do the carrying and tried not to feed. Those who didnt care and were interested in my experience ended up having a great time win or lose it seemed and we went on with the match.

Bad matches will happen regardless of your state of mind and league is just that kind of game where winning just isnt that satisfying regardless of the match.

So in the end, it comes down to emotional cool rather than the consumable in itself. Yes, this person who made the question has a low, controlled consume, but do not forget, he is not the general standart. While a small, like a really small amount is one argument, most don't take small amounts, and most don't take alcohol, but worse stuff. just further down the comments you see one dude carelessly admitting to LSD consumption which underlines that point.

And to get back to the argument, while the positives MAY be a less emotional approach to things, the downside of it is an apathic attitude. When you care less for your mistakes, you also care less for the impact they have. A mistake is as important as the changes it causes, after all. So that still brings us back the main statement of my post, which is an intended neglect for your team. Your own joy and fun are by riot's own say, secondary when it comes to working with your team. And how much worse do those teammates feel when not only you do make a mistake, but you additionally don't care you did it? The typical effect is they get even more frustrated and angry, promptly boosting toxicity, rather than diminishing it.

No matter how one looks at it, the contra-arguments far outweight the pro-arguments. And while some people don't suffer solely negative effects, like the person in the video who made the ask, that doesn't negate the negative effects and their impact on others. It is plain unfair that you can lose someone else's game and seemingly get away because you took consumables so you weren't as tilted as you normally would be.

No one is saying they should be excused for bad play because they were on drugs. If you play bad or troll then expect the same punishment as those who do the same. If you play a little worse but end up having more fun then prepare for consequences if you played like you were trolling.

If you want to get into a drug debate then we can. We are on the internet after all and all the info we need to argue is nothing more than a few keystrokes away. Just let me know. [slayer-jinx-wink]

Okay... Congrats the only thing that comes from this is people stop actually typing that they are high/drunk.

That's still a positive though. Is there any reason whatsoever to tell your team you're high/drunk except to tilt them?
