As the guy who just had their time wasted, waiting for the pick timer to run out because of some jerk who didn't lock just so we can have to go through positions and picks again really sucks.
If someone really wants to bail, let them bail immediately and then slot someone else into their spot without forcing a requeue.
As a bonus, this would change Autofill to actually mean "autofill" rather than "support".
Chermorg2 votesWhen you dodge a game during champion select, you are in effect saying that 9 other people wasted the 1-3 minutes they spent in champion select because you either didn’t want to play or for some other reason left. For that reason, you have to wait a certain amount of time to rejoin queue as a deterrent from wasting other peoples’ time.

I'm saying that as one of the people who had their time wasted, I'd rather the leaver just leave ASAP rather than running down the timer and booting the other 9 into the queue again. This way, the leaver would leave, the lobby remains as is (with picks and positions), and someone else from the people looking for a game gets filled into the spot that the leaver just vacated.
Shortens queue times, makes autofill great again, doesn't allow 1 player to troll 9.

The thing with that is that the system would have a very short period of time to find someone to either fill the role (or auto fill) that doesn’t mess up the average skill level in the game. And what happens after champs are selected, does the filled person have to play whatever champ was selected before the dodge? If not, it would open it up to abuse “oh I don’t like my matchup so ill dodge and the person coming into the game can just pick a better matchup for my duo partner”.

ModThe Djinn1 votesI get the suggestion here, but I there already IS a way to do that (closing the client), and I think putting in a button would appear to be enabling an action Riot doesn't want players to take.
Plus, someone being a jerk and running down the pick timer would still happen -- and if someone is salty enough to bail in pick, they're probably also okay with avoiding the button to waste people's time.

Closing the client still dumps 9 other people out into the lobby and forces the pick/ban to happen again, taking even more time. That is what this suggestion handles.

They don't encourage dodging. They just understand that A: dodging to prevent a toxic situation is sometimes the correct choice, and B: players sometimes disconnect or have real-life situations occur. It's something that is unfortunately necessary, not something they want to encourage, even if only by raising awareness of the option with a button.
