I can't be nice to the people in this game. If they lose, they flame, if they win, they become arrogant and bigheaded, like they are the best thing ever.

I just can't play this game anymore. The community are just awful...

I have never had a game where somebody wasn't one of the two catagories above and I just can't take it anymore.

The abuse has a way of getting to you. It really does and if I say anything, I GET PUNISHED. Its disgusting how Riot lets people get away with such terrible displays of arrogance because it makes them easy money.

This game just brings out the WORST in everyone. Probably how its earned its place as the most toxic community and I'm done with it.

Have you tried /mute all at the start? Works for some people, not sure if it would work for you.

i personally dont mind toxic people, i just fucking hate arrogant people especially when they win with a champion like Vayne and had 0/6/2 before and write stuff like "gg ez, get rekt" and the funny thing is when i insult him (the only way to feel better) i could get banned..

I consider myself one of the nicest people I know and even I've been toxic a few times. Like this Jinx who was on the enemy team. I decided to try Morgana and she'd say in all chat whenever I missed a Q how much I suck and how I haven't hit any Qs (Which wasn't... even true. Even remotely.) She was super toxic to everybody so I made sure to rub that in when we won the game. Then there was my mid laner a few games back who went like 0/9/1 and was just so incredibly bad at the game and singlehandedly made the game unwinnable despite everyone else being fed.

I think those were the only two times in the last few months, but it's just so silly how you're expected to sit back and let these people spew toxicity or throw the game and you can't say anything. If Riot banned people more it wouldn't be so bad but you report them knowing full well they wont be banned. And you know you won't be banned for saying toxic things as long as you don't do it every game, so it's hard not to talk shit sometimes lmao

Quit while you haven't invested that much time into this game. The chat hasn't gotten better from my 2-3 years of experience. On a rough estimate: 7/10 games really aren't that bad. But those 3/10 games are so frustrating it makes the other 7 games not worth playing. I wish i could quit..

Couple of corrections:

Riot doesnt let people get away, or at least in their view they are doing the best they can. I guess no one ever brought up a question at meeting: what if the best isnt good enough. Anywho but yes, they 'dont let people get away'
Its not the game that brings out the worst in people. You see you cant bring out something that isnt there, so lets just be honest: the game PROVIDES an opportunity and environment for people to act in their most honest way. Without restrictions. See people dont act like that in real life because theres consequences. In League such consequences are a hit and miss. You can rage and maybe you get punished, but also maybe not. This allows people to take risks like gambling, And if they won once, its an addicition go repeat.

Im sorry you had to see the basic nature of some people in league. Lets just say that those never do much better in real life either because basic nature is hard to hide. I hope you find better community in your next games. Godspeed.

Riot doesn't encourage it. I know people get punished because I've seen it (the popup saying my report got someone punished) at least 3 times in as many years. It's rare and Riot could improve the communication that your reports matter. However, that doesn't mean since you don't see that little pop up that people aren't being punished with the help of your reports.
"Fight fire with fire" just makes the flame bigger. I hope you know that. If you go at people with negative attitudes, you're going to get nothing but negativity in return. Try turning that around. Also, before you blame EVERYONE ELSE for the toxicity you see, I find this quote to be rather enlighening to think about in regards to your own behavior and how it impacts the toxicity of your games. You can think highly of yourself (definition arrogant) and still not be toxic. I think you mean abuse.
See 2 for reference. I don't see nearly the toxicity people seem to claim is so ubiquitous to the community. That's because I try to bring positivity with me, and if it is clear that someone is: finger pointing, blaming others, being hostile. I know how to mute someone really easily, and do so quickly so their toxicity doesn't come even close to my mentality beyond that point.
