Why does Riot empower trolls?

Why does Riot empower trolls? Why is it when someone outright admits to trolling, that if you say any "mean" words to them you are banned instead of them? Would you arrest someone from defending themselves from a mugger? Why is it that despite there being a mute function, chat infractions seem to be very more of a focus when it comes to moderation as opposed to game play? Shouldn't it be the opposite? Shouldn't moderation be focused on the people who go out of their way to cause tilting and toxic behavior as opposed to the victims as a result?

I had a game as ADC where my support didn't want to be support, so she decided to troll. As early as level one she started to take farm, and when I very politely asked "PLEASE stop pooling" she then proceeded to walk right into the enemy and give FB. Did I shit talk her at that point? No all I said was "You're starting to tilt me" and what was her response? "Good" Despite the fact I had nothing against her. So at that point it was clear that was a dead lane, so I decided to remove myself from the situation and go to another lane, but of course my team started to attack me and not my support because now it was inconveniencing them and barraged me with insults (to which I obviously gave back in kind at this point.)

Was that Morg banned for trolling? No. Was my team banned for taking the side of said troll? No. But I was.

If that support didn't decide to troll because they didn't get the role they wanted, I wouldn't have been forced into the position I was in. Yet I was punished and she was not. Where's the justice in that? **Why does Riot reward trolls for being able to successfully push people's buttons? **

This isn't a zero sum punishment system. Both parties can be guilty.

What I don't get is why people like you insist that they need to feed the trolls.

"Please let me feed them my words! They'll starve if they don't get a reaction out of me!" you beg on hands and knees.

Then when you get punished and cry to us that you were only feeding a poor starving troll exactly what they wanted the community shakes their collective heads.

In other words, it's not Riot that's empowering the trolls, it's you.

They don't, and your analogy sucks for multiple reasons.

.1. You are physically at risk during a mugging.

.2. Yes, you ##CAN## be punished for said mugging. Excessive force, going past the point of defending.

.3. A support is allowed to fucking farm if they want. Is it META (Most Efficient Tactic Available)? Not really, unless last hitting while adc comes back.

.4. What is funny about it, you got upset because the "troll" wanted to play differently. Then when you went to other lanes, you were surprised that your team was upset when "you" wanted to play differently.

Presuming it is the last game on your op.gg with you as MF, the Morg didn't give up FB. Garen did. And it seems you mainly got vocal when your team started to berate you, which is when you should have muted.

Riot doesn't reward trolls, that's nuts.

Bear in mind that everyone who is telling you the proper way to deal with them uses those methods. The majority of players never get punished, because the majority of players make use of the mute function when they need to. Riot can't battle the troll who is still in your game. There simply isn't a way to do that.

Your most effective weapon against trolls is the report button on the end of game screen; the better reports people give, the more trolls go away. Fighting them in game doesn't do any good. The sooner you realize that, the better off you are.

Because retaliating makes you no better than they are. If someone is being a jerk-off, then the best thing to do is to mute t hem. Turn them off, never hear another bad thing from them again. And if the y're saying stupid stuff about you while you're muted, so what? They'll get what's coming to them.
