Does RIOT actually read chat logs?

AbBrenner··2 votes·2,813 views

Yea, I'm pretty sure I just got ganged up on in a game by a premade and got spam reported. Yea I got crappy with them, but jesus, look at the chat log, they were flaming me all game and I stood up for myself... this is pretty tilting, not going to lie. The way to a have a good community is to stop provocation, not punish the retaliator... I don't even know how to appeal. I'll even take the chat restriction if the Orianna who was toxic the entire game gets one as well. Antagonize, antagonize, antagonize... He said "F*A# Ori!!"... really riot?

Multiple reports do nothing that one report doesn't already do. In both cases a computer reads your logs and judges you the same as everyone else.

From experience, when people say they "stood up for myself" or were "just defending myself," they're usually fighting fire with fire.

The system for verbal punishment is largely automated. It punishes people based on consistency x severity, meaning someone can get punished for 1 game of extreme toxicity or many games of minor toxicity.

In your case, it was probably an accumulation of many minor and moderate toxicity games.

So did Riot read the chatlogs? Probably not.

Did you deserve your punishment? Probably.

Actually, the way to have a good community is to punish anyone who thinks flaming is ever okay.

It doesn't matter you didn't start it. You contributed and can't control yourself.

Wrong

Great rebuttal, with a large opportunity for me to counter your points.

You can think flaming is ok while not flaming.

You could've, you know, justified that position?

Flaming is not okay because it makes the game less fun for those in it, and a video game has the sole purpose of being fun.

You said to punish all people that think flaming is ok,not people that actually flame.why I'm i not allowed to think things?

Flaming doesn't ruin games unless you let it. Its very easy to ignore a flamer, and your game cannot get ruined if you mute them.

Yes, it can, because I can't mute them until I know they're a problem.

Further, it is not the victims fault the game was ruined, it is the fault of the person spreading the negativity.

mute them?

If only people did that, then toxic players wouldn't even need to get punished. But people avoid the mute option like a yasuo player avoids playing safe.

No, Riot doesn't read chat logs. I received a 2 week ban for QUOTING another player. I appealed it with a ticket and got an automated response that basically said "sorry, you still said it."
