I Need Help Or I'm Going To Get Banned

Recently I've reached new levels of toxicity. I'm inting in ranked games. I never go in thinking "can't wait to int" but I can't stand it when the other players on my team seem to not care about winning at all. I also think that it might not be their fault. I have a 55% winrate and I get matched with teammates who have like 48% winrates, and I accuse them of being trolls but maybe they just aren't that good. Hell I know I'm not that good myself, but come on at least try.

What should I do? I need to chill.

First off, good on you for coming here proactively. We see FAR too much "I was banned, and now I'm sorry" threads, and not enough "how can I fix this" threads.

First thing to realize is that League aims for a 50% win rate. Anything between about 45% and 55% is within that range, so 48% isn't really that far below average, especially if they don't have as many games (or main a common role, like mid).

The second thing I'd recommend is to stop worrying about the division you're in in ranked, and more about improving as a player. If you enter each game with the goal of playing your best and learning something/improving NO MATTER THE OUTCOME OF THE GAME, you'll end up finding that even losses can be better experiences than you thought -- your goal is to improve, after all, and winning becomes a welcome bonus rather than the ONLY thing. Remember: League WANTS you to lose 50% of your games. If winning is the only thing that's fun for you, League is only fun 50% of the time -- and that doesn't make for a good hobby.

To give more advice, it would be helpful to know a bit more about what specifically frustrates you, how you express it, and any methods you use for dealing with anger outside of League.

I almost always take a break after a loss. Even just 10 minutes is enough usually to get my composure back.

Good activities during a break include:

  • Making a snack
  • Using the restroom
  • Getting water to drink
  • Taking a step outside for fresh air
  • Watching a funny youtube video

I personally just have a stressdummy to strangle if things ever go way to far in game but here are my tips. if I dont feel like doing that.

  1. never play another game after a true ragegame, it gives you no good things.
  2. have a de-stress game. Have you ever played roller coaster tycoon and made a park just for killing innocent npc, it is surprisingly relaxing. Other games that work are things like the prototype series.
  3. ask if you still enjoy set game. If no, just stop for a few weeks and try it again then. It often feels better after you come back. And if it doesn't you have stopped doing something you don't enjoy.
  4. accept that even if you are the perfect average of humanity, around 50 percent of humans are less good at something then you. Accepting this is one of the most important things to do in a game where you have to work with others.

Every single player that is diamond or challenger had to get through bronze, silver, gold and plat at one point. Watch a pro play. Usually they don't flame. They try to look at the situation objectively and see what they could have done to play it better.

I think most league players get stuck on what is "the right play." Say for example baron is top for you, your team kills there jungler and a wave is pushing past their teir two tower in bot into their base. The correct play is to go for baron, but one guy stays bot cause he wants to push, another goes mid to wave clear and you try to force a baron by starting it so your team has to come and help. In the process your team takes way to much damage, you get wiped by enemies and they get a baron. This happens a lot. It happens because you got stuck on "the right play." If you want to climb the latter at a certain point you have to stop being the only person doing the right thing and just play with your team. If you are losing, a bad gank comes in, you're getting camped then figure out what you could do/could've done to have avoided the situation. Things such as vision, playing to agro, wave management, understanding matchups and kill potential at given levels. Rage once you're challenger. If you aren't challenger then focus on yourself because you probably aren't playing these given situation right yourself.

Step away from the game for a little bit if it's pushing you towards toxicity.

Tldr; switch to norms or ARAM when you're tilted. Play a different champ/build path. Don't expect to win or have competent teammates.

Hey Primordial,

It's really great to see a player come here and ask for help before it escalates to a permaban. The best advice I can give you is something that has been working for me lately. I've been having some real world issues that have put a lot of stress on me so lately I find myself getting frustrated SUPER easy.

I find that most of my frustration comes when my expectations aren't met. IE; we have an OP team comp so we should totally win, then we don't. We broke an inhibitor and took down Baron and have all 5 members and a 10k gold lead, then lose. My jungler is competent, but then does a drive by without ganking enemy mid-laner at 15% hp who is overextended. I'm good at X champ, then proceed to go 0/4/0 in laning phase.

These things tilt me so bad, so when that happens, my next few matches I do something that I have no expectations on at all. I will play a new champ/role/build in norms. That way I have no expectations on dominating lane or anything like that. I will do something that makes the game how it should be played: fun.

Also, try out ARAM matches when you're feeling frustrated. Just don't expect to be on even footing with the enemy team in case they get those OP ARAM champs. When I see our team of Udyr, Rek'Sai, Kalista, Garen, and Poppy against an enemy team of Ziggs, Caitlyn, Varus, Nautilus, and Lux I know this shit's over before I even load in. But hey, you just play to have fun and winning is just a byproduct of that fun. At least that's what helps me.

I thin kthe majority get toxic because they simply do not find the game FUN.. and just play to win because it's popular

try to say calm as much as posible , dont let your mistakes tilt you dont talk to enemy team , mute your own team mates , and don't tilt when you get killed or ganked by 5 4 3 2 1 champs of enemy team , practice in blind see how it goes , try making the calls , if you lose 2 games stop playing , you might be on tilt already and make you lose more games
