Why do players get so offended about my in game name?

It's not offensive. Personally, though, threats of feeding put me on edge. When somebody says "X or feed" through the written word, it's impossible to gauge tone to determine whether it's a joke or a serious demand.

It's not that people are offended it's just that your name implies that you will int if you don't get Garen, and people generally don't like it when people threaten to feed or otherwise intentionally ruin the game if they don't get their way.

Mine also causes people to freak out, for entirely different reasons. Usually kids with XX-super-serious-cool-XX trash names.

Invariably it is just an excuse for people that would freak out about something different anyway.

Garen is not META, many classify him as a champ that sucks.

Off META picks puts people on any edge already. Threatening to feed if you don't get that off META pick press them even more into a defensive state.
