"Trying to level up honor in this game is like waiting for a turtle to finish a marathon"

I saw this comment on a thread about the honor system, and it really illustrates where the current honor system falls short.

You shouldn't be trying to level up honor; playing honorably is something you should just do.

It's not the fault of the summoner I'm quoting -- having different honor levels gamifies the system. That is, it makes honor feel like something you should be tracking and leveling up. Compare to the way key fragments drop -- randomly but consistently as long as your account is in good standing. This encourages people to play honorably without encouraging them to farm honors.

Honor levels should be the same. Right now, higher honor levels mean you are eligible for certain rewards. My suggestion is to remove honor levels and simply show whether you are eligible for the rewards. The indicator would have 3 states:

  • Eligible
  • Ineligible but on track to become eligible
  • Ineligible and not on track to become eligible

This way, there are clear rewards, but no feeling of milestones I'm supposed to grind until I hit.

the honor system should take in consideration games played not time passed. It takes more effort to be sportsmanlike for 100 games in a month than 100 games in a year.

I've been playing games just to get closer to the amount needed to pop lvl 3. But who knows, it could be next game or it could be next week lol
