Opinion: ranked is insanely unbalanced

I got a 2 week span of 90% unwinnable games last season where bot lane (sometimes mid or jg as well) would give enemy laner over 10 kills in laning phase alone while I was being 2v1 camped the entire first 15 min of the game. Meanwhile my bot lane had a whopping 1-3 kills to their name while getting tons of help from our jg.

This past fall, same thing.

And now it is happening again. People that boosted and unable to just farm on a RANGED champ 2v2 should be demoted immediately to a much lower elo where they belong. They are either clearly: 1. boosted a full tier (ex: gold 5 playing in plat 5) or 2. intentionally throwing the game (win-trading). Last time I checked - both of these are supposed to be ILLEGAL. Yet I'm seeing these people in 80% or more of my games the past few weeks - with 95% of the time, all of them being on my team. That's a bit skewed statistics for rng. Thus, some major improvements to matchmaking are called for.

If a lane is being 2v1 or even 3v1 camped, the rest of the team should be more than capable of either getting objectives elsewhere and probably kills too, or capable of counter-ganking with a half decent effort and timing to make it a 2v3, 2v2, or 3v3 and let the better players win. But this fails to happen almost every single time. And not once or twice in a game... literally the entire game.

To take an example from a recent game: For the 4th game straight, I am beating my lane opponent 1v1, enemy jg decides to camp for 15+ min straight. Ok, fine whatever. I can deal with this and go even most games... but my team needs to get stuff done on rest of map since they are 4v3. That means jg GANKING and getting OBJECTIVES - not afk farming and failing to build any kind of cs lead vs enemy jg. That means laners going at least even - not feeding 2v2 and 1v1 with 0 threat of enemy jg ganking for first 15+ min of the game. 1/7/0 kda in a 2v2 is not acceptable - especially when you have the stronger 2v2 laning champs. Ok, so I'm playing safe and hugging tower, not needlessly fighting away from tower or getting chunked for a ton of hp for no reason. Conqueror jax and a master yi jg that prevents me from leaving tower to soak xp further up in lane, so I wait by tower. I'm tower dove 6+ times in laning phase. Every time, I trade kills and get some cs, but I can't kill both jax and yi by myself. I ask many times for counter-ganks. Even when my jg just finished red and is at krugs (right by my tower) and see's yi sitting in tri-brush, rather than help with the next inevitable tower dive on me that's coming in about 5 sec, he farms krugs. Jax escapes tower dive with 20%hp, yi dies. If jg came, that's an easy 2 for 1 in our favor and shutdown gold, but obviously krugs are worth more.

Bot tells me I'm getting shit on 1v1 cuz I play too agro. Excuse me? I'm sitting under my own tower, asking for counter-ganks. That is not playing agro. You're upset jax is fed? Maybe support me in telling jg to stop afk farming and counter-gank or snowball elsewhere on map instead of telling me to stop "whining" and "being a baby".

What were my alternative options to hugging top tower and trying to make the best of it? I can go mid and soak xp but get little else done; no kill pressure there. I can go bot to help my losing lane and the result (from numerous past experiences and the reactions bot gave this game) will be:

  1. bot flames/spam pings me to leave
  2. I can engage and get them kills, they will then piss away their lead/advantage I give them
  3. bot will base and go top to 2v2 enemy top and jg - and feed them much more than I did at 5/5/1 in a 1v2 for 15+ min
  4. jax will tp bot and my adc and sup will bail - leaving me 1v3 even if we could easily win the 3v3
  5. bot will actually be better than I expected, snag 2 kills and help push outer tower; however, jax and yi will meanwhile have gotten outer top for first tower gold and half of inner tower; they will then roam obviously mid and kill my jg and/or mid with obvious roam even though I spam ping to warn them well in advance

Thus, my alternate options are pretty shitty and still involve my team losing more than we would gain. If this were higher elo with better skilled teammates... I'd be able to make some alternate plays with better results... but it's not. If I had my opponents on my team - swap jg and/or bot lane, I'd be able to make those plays at THIS ELO and come out ahead. But instead, I get people who refuse to take any action. And even if you clearly spell out what you need to do and why, they refuse to listen.

Laning ends, I try to make some team plays and thanks to my proactive interaction, we actually win a few fights because I'm there before the full enemy team; saving teammates with peeling and setting up some low hp enemies who are stunned in place for my team to finish off. Of course none of my contributions are recognized by anyone. When I could be afk farming side lane but instead tp to save a teammate from certain death, that's my teammate making a great escape; not my saving them lol. When I flash stun an out of position enemy carry and pop 2/3 their hp for my teammates to finish them off while I'm tanking 4 enemies, that's my team making a great play - not me lol. And when my team gets deleted 4 for 0 in a 4v4 while I'm trying to stop splitpushing jax who has 2 level advantage on me, that's my fault they died lol. When I'm out of position one time cuz I disengaged a lost fight before I die and the enemy kills our inhib and pushes for the win, I'm trying to recall by raptors, but the enemy sup spots me and chases me, I'm apparently the guy who values raptors over our base lol. Yes, clearly I'm being selfish there trying to recall so I can heal and defend, but having to deal with enemy sup interrupting my recall. I never even attacked the raptor camp; I wasn't trying to farm at cost of our base. Speaking of that though... how about our jg valuing krugs all game over... helping a teammate who's getting camped? Now THAT is a crime shame. Especially when... you easily win the 2v2 and could have snowballed hard if he just delays farming 1 jg camp to counter-gank or pressure somewhere on the map.

I clearly lost the game for us by going 5/5/1 in lane while 1v2 camped lol. I clearly never helped the team when I have second highest assists on our team lol. I'm clearly farming raptors at cost of our base when I never even hit them and I'm recalling lol. Yes, flame me the entire game with the amount of pressure I had to deal with while getting 0 help from my jg and my teammates all losing or even feeding their lanes despite never getting ganked. Clearly I threw this game for our team lol.

If this were a rare occurrence, I'd understand; everyone gets crappy teams once in awhile. But 80% of games with teammates like this? That's unacceptable. And it's not the fact I'm 1v2 nearly every game. If that were all I had to deal with, I'd be ok. It's teammates sitting on their butts doing nothing to punish the 1v2. It's teammates flaming me for every little thing and telling me to stfu (for asking for one counter-gank pls) while they are doing far worse 1v1 or 2v2 than I am doing while being camped. It's teammates forcing the same horrible fights where they facecheck into everything instead of use their free wards... and then die and blame me. It's teammates refusing to cooperate with anyone and running it down lane cuz they're 0/2/0 and the game is as good as over in their eyes - no matter how fed their teammates might be. It's the fact that it's nearly every damn game. And if I manage to win 1v2? A fed enemy mid happens to magically occur too... and leave me 1v3 while my jg camps for a feeding mid with 0 kill pressure and bot lane bleeds out towers. And I'm supposed to take this bullshit and be polite to teammates who:

  1. refuse to help me
  2. refuse to punish enemy roams
  3. refuse to adjust their play so they stop feeding 1v1 or 2v2
  4. flame me for going even while camped; which is far better than what they are managing although I say nothing insulting to them - just "hug tower and farm pls" "if you play safe and stop 2v2 dying, we can win teamfights" or something like that
  5. refuse to cooperate when I go out of my way to help them and spell it out beforehand - giving them plenty of time to prepare for a flank or tp gank play
  6. refuse to adjust their play; facechecking everything and never warding, running around solo or duo squishy champs vs fed enemy assassins and stealth champs that can easily 1-shot them, refuse to group and defend a tower... costing us objectives and towers and kills
  7. flame my build
  8. tell me I'm trash, noob, idiot, garbage, git gud, you're hardstuck silver/bronze because..., selfish - never group (despite the fact we only get picks or win fights off my engages), selfish (despite pulling 2 people to side lane and still having pressure to give my team time to 4v3 catch up if they would just cooperate and stop splitting, afk farming, dying when they could have easy 4v3) while I'm dealing with 2 of the strongest players on the enemy team... by myself (forgive me for trying to keep 2 fed enemies away from my squishy teammates; apparently I'm a horrible stupid player for doing this).

Yeah, you go deal with this in 80% of your matches - being denied the chance to actually play the game (since you are 1v2 or 1v3 every damn game) - while having such teammates consistently. Then post YOUR chat log Riot. Do this for 2 weeks straight, 2+ games per day and let's see you stay positive and friendly. And no, you cannot punish any of your teammates for their behavior - they all get a free pass to excuse their intentional feeding, their uncooperative behavior, and their flaming of you. Then, if you have a spotless record, come talk to me about player behavior. Cuz I'm fucking fed up with this bullshit. I've said it for over a year how much you need to fix matchmaking and take action against intentional feeders - especially the ones who flame teammates that are doing far better than them despite being screwed over by their own team the entire game. Fix your shit.

Didn’t read all but I agree. Matchmaking is wildly inconsistent.

I think the problem is in your champion pool and lanes you prefer over the actual balance aspect of ranked.

Although I've notice a few boosted adc and support that got to silver/gold/platinum through subpar skill but they had a decent or above average adc or support that carried them.

There's a difference between having a bad game or even being sub-par and... inting or being boosted a full tier (gold 4 playing in plat 4 for example).

If your skills are gold 4, you will never be able to climb your way to plat 4 due to rng teammates. Sure some games you might get boosted, might even reach gold 1, but you won't get plat 4. The only way you achieve this is bought account or vastly higher elo teammate boosting you. And if you are intentional feeding - Riot either needs to remove it as a report option, or they need to start punishing intentional feeding.

I know that's a can of worms on the boards, but honestly, it's not as complicated as everyone makes it out to be - nor do I mean that inting should immediately get you banned or chat restricted. To spell it out by example. Say I'm playing darius vs a nasus. I get cheese flash ganked early and die to enemy jg. I immediately tp back to lane, and get killed again as soon as I push out. I'm now 0/2/0, down 25 cs, down a level and a half, and down in items with no sums. If I keep shoving out and trying to 1v1 nasus, I am intentionally feeding.

If I am being perma-camped and repeat tower dove by the enemy jg and roamed on by a fed enemy midlaner. If I'm hugging my tower to not take needless chunk damage from my opponents and farming only under tower unless I get a breather where I see the enemy jg finally left a bush in toplane and is giving me some 1v1 time. If I ask for counter-ganks. If I build properly to maximize my durability. And I'm still dying a ton, there's not much I can do. Sure there's other options; however those are all dependent on my teammates. If they are unwilling or lack the understanding to let me make those alternative plays work, then I'm left trying to 1v2 under my tower and farm as best I can; hopefully they are exploiting this elsewhere on the map and getting kills and objectives. That scenario is NOT intentional feeding. If I were staying under tower when I could walk away and I were very low hp, sure then it would be, but when you are nearly full hp and doing so... it's not.

That should be a pretty clear example of the difference between inting and having a bad game. Now, if someone is inting rather than having a bad game, they should get a warning. A clear statement from Riot explaining what they did and that this kind of play will not be tolerated. They are then warned that doing this behavior in the future will have consequences - regardless of how many/few times it is done or how much later in time it occurs. Repeat offense (probably within a month's time) gets you another warning and say a 3 day suspension from pvp. Repeat after this - or intentionally ruin the game for others playing pve during your suspension and you get a one week suspension from the game. Repeat again, and it's a ban. Obviously if it's been say a year from the last time you inted, you wouldn't go straight to ban from your last punishment having been a 1 week suspension since it had been a long time since you last went out of the way to ruin your teammates' match.

I don't care if a teammate is 10/2/7 or 1/10/2. I care WHY. Were they camped and screwed over by their team? Were they put in that position because someone on our team trolled them, then fed opponents from other lanes joined in and left them 2v4 or 1v5 every time they leave the fountain to go farm or teamfight? That's not their fault. Did they fall behind in lane and play safe from thereon out? Did they then group when appropriate so they don't get picked off solo or duo pushing side lane with no vision? They are putting in an honest effort and trying to give their team a chance to carry/make a comeback. Did they keep fighting even or outnumbered fights when behind vs people they died to 1v1 or 2v2 or 3v2? Did they perma-shove and never ward? That's inting. Did they continually force bad fights they stand no chance of winning and then blame a teammate for not being there when it is clear the teammate cannot join from halfway across the map and pinged them to not force said fight and typed for them to please just play safe and farm to catch up? That's inting and flaming.

I care WHY my teammates' kda is what it is. KDA does not equate to skill or good decision making. They can be related, they can tell you someone is really good, mediocre, or bad; but it does not always tell the truth.

I don't ask for my teammates to win lane or smash their opponents. I don't expect them all to have amazing macro play. I do expect that they show some ability to not int just because they are behind in lane. I do expect them to work with their teammates and follow the calls the team makes provided said calls are not complete suicide. I do expect the team to listen to a player if said player is making better decisions than the rest of the team. For example, if 3 people in the game keep calling for fights and every time we fight when/how/where those 3 say to.... we lose, then maybe it's time (after a few tries) to do something different or let someone else make the calls. And those 3 should listen to the other teammates and not clutter chat/pings with useless info. I do expect that if I had to learn some basic concept (like rotations) to climb out of bronze and I'm in silver 1, that my teammates should have or be able to grasp (once it's explained to them simply) said concept - especially when the entire other team has an understanding of it and not just me. Showing complete lack of understanding on several simple concepts and skills that were needed to climb the out of the last tier to this one suggests a player does not belong at this tier and illegally acquired their current rank or that they are intentionally throwing the game to remain at said rank rather than climb to a properly challenging elo for them. The latter is also called win-trading and it's illegal. The former is also illegal. Thus, while some of this is inevitably going to be encountered - it shouldn't be at a frequency of 80% of games or anywhere NEAR that often.

This is a long post, so I'm going to break thing down one entire wall of text at a time.

If you play enough games you will rank up, riot matches teammates based off mmr and winrates riot generally tries to help player keep a 50% winrate but you only need a 45% winrate to move up in the system (this only works into early diamond ranks) of course there are dozens of more variables to account for as well but they don't affect ranking up as much.

Riot does in fact punish int feeders, trolls, and greifers it just takes longer since they have to usually manual review those cases. They also ban elobooster, scripters however those last 2 are done in waves every month or every 3 months.

The example you gave wasn't intentionally feeding, it was the player getting tilted or the player getting outplayed, this is the reason why report on trolling can't be automated, intentionally feeding is **not **about dying a lot or playing bad it's about the INTENTION of PURPOSELY DYING to the ENEMY. You did not make a clear statement between intentionally feeding and having a bad game. If it were that easy to make a black and white statement on intentionally feeding many people in the field of game development would've already implemented a universal (as in easy to replicate or implement) system to punish players.

It seems like you have no idea how riots report system works in the slightest, which means you haven't done you due diligence in researching. Riot has a 2 strike system for eloboosting before permanent ban, along with stripping player of all ranked rewards. They have a 4 tier punishment system for player negativity, which is somewhat complicated in how it works.

The rest of you wall of text if filled with fallacy and incoherent off-topic rambling. How is it illegal to do either of those two things in a video game? Sure they break Riot's ToS which results in account suspension but they don't violate any federal or state law that I know of, but maybe in a different country they have law against those things in league of legends which I highly doubt.

[Edit] Also you didn't address the fact that you one-trick renekton who isn't a good champion and certainly doesn't fit in the current meta. Renekton lacks late game, can only be played top, has only 2 build paths, melee range, kitable, weak to range, doesn't do well vs ap range laners. The current meta highly favors botlane, than jungle, than midlane, the toplane meta is currently sustain duelers that can take turrets fast and apply hard cc to enemies late game and still do damage so the enemy team focuses them over the adc.

You are the one who clearly lacks understanding. When you're far behind and you cannot win a fight and have no backup, but keep forcing that same fight, you are INTENTIONALLY engaging/forcing a fight in which you KNOW you will die and NOT win or go even. This is INTENTIONAL - because YOU are forcing it. It is FEEDING because you are dying... again and again. Put that together and you get INTENTIONAL FEEDING. Wow, congrats, you now pass kindergarten class #2. Your argument SOUNDS nice, but it fails. For the reason listed above and because based on your "they're just having a bad game/tilted argument, the same could have been said when tyler ran it down mid a million times and got banned for it. He was "just tilted" from bad teammates lol. So throwing in a few auto's onto enemies when he did that would be the entire difference between intentional feeding resulting in a very infamous ban and merely having a bad game - according to your argument. Now do you see the huge flaw with your argument? If so, good. If not, please get yourself checked out.

I'm not quite sure where you are misunderstanding me with the report system. I never talk about how many times you can CURRENTLY elo boost before getting banned or punished. I SUGGEST a possible tier of consequences that COULD be implemented; not something that is CURRENTLY in use. So your comments in this regards are completely off base.

Not sure what "two things" you are referring to. I can only make an educated guess that this refers to elo boosting and buying other people's accounts or stealing them. In regards to this, I'd point you to XiaoWeiXaio case. And as you said, these things violate terms of service - which means they are illegal. So... not sure why you are arguing against me here.

As far as punishments being doled out, if it were done so proplerly I wouldn't run into 20+ game spans where 80% of games are decided by one or more of my teammates inting while I'm 1v2 for 15+ min and still going even in lane or winning. Such players would not exist on my team or the opponent team with such regularity. Jungle or laner gank intervention is entirely different. As I explained, this can more reasonable excuse people having poor kda and CAN (but not always) make it forgivable or even a worthwhile trade.

As far as champs that I play, this has nothing to do with the post. We are discussing unbalanced matchmaking. And if I can go even or win while being camped for the first 15 min and often vs an opponent with ignite and/or a counter-pick on a champ you imply is garbage tier right now, that just shows all the more how much I deserve better teammates. Because if I can win lane and play macro with the best of them in a match like that - on a consistent basis while being tilted from 80% auto-loss streak thanks to teammmates - then I'm clearly better than my opponents and deserve to have a fighting chance at winning the game. And if my opponents are so poor that they can't decisively snowball when they get a counterpick, a 2v1, and have ignite (combat advantage) plus vs a tilted opponent, then my teammates (were they deserving to be at current elo) would have 0 problems winning lane or at least going even when they're given a guaranteed 1v1 or 2v2 with our jungler free to gank mid or bot with no fear of counter-ganks happening. Or jungle can be free to come top, smash 2v2, and snowball the hell out of the game - leaving the enemy top and jg irrelevant and enemy jg unable to farm his top jg.

Once again - that has NOTHING to do with our discussion - but YOU brought it up, so I figured I would make that long winded paragraph to demolish your asinine statement. Not that it will do any good - since you clearly just want to pick a fight and make insulting statements with no backing rather than have an actual discussion based on your first reply. TTYL

The part about the report system, what you said was basically the current system, except about giving trolls multiple chances generally if they are account reviewed they get permed and if they just did it one time they move up on the punishment tier. Simple clean cut system but also not really, the reason they tied in the verbal punishment with trolling was to save on making multiple systems. Riot does have some sort of IFS albeit a very bad one (and considering the IFS is shit that tells you something) for trolling/greifing.

It's not "illegal" it's breaking ToS which is an agreement between riot games and a player. Breaking the ToS wont put you in jail, breaking state/country/providence laws is illegal. Basically I'm just correcting you on the use of illegal, the correct term is Breaking the ToS.

Sounds like someone is upset because they play subpar champion and when they can't carry their teammates or benefit them and then their teammates die a bunch you get more upsetti, you need to chill out, take a break from the game friend maybe wait into they buff renekton =p.

ranked ia based on luck at any elo unless you abuse certain shit like the most faceroll DPS champs or by simply going premade. ive seen players drop from diamond last season and are gold now, i dropped from master to plat in 10 days, pro players are dropping from chal to D1. you can be brainless but just aslong as you pick a certain champ or go premade you can achieve high elo now.

want to know what happens when you dont go premade? you get a fucking autofilled support. if my jungler doesnt know what to do and botlane is losing, i blame the jungler for not camping bot and say "bot lost go next". you dont get a chance to play whats meant to be a game and for some weird reason people dont surrender and enjoy playing through certain, slow losses. i like close games and the occasional stomp win.
