Players Unable to Get Mid Lane are Moving to 'Support'

I main Support. I pick Fill in Dynamic Que because 95% of the time I end up playing Support. Dynamic Que is broken, for multiple reasons, but that is not what I am here to talk about.

I have had a handful of games recently in which I did not get support, but in which the 'support' player picked a hard carry support (Annie, Brand, Vel'koz, Ect.) and then proceeded to play as if they owned the lane. Taking CS, not buying sight-stone, and buying no other kind of support item nor doing anything to aid their team.

At first I thought this was an anomaly, someone Que'd up with their team and got stuck with support but did not want to play support. Then I noticed that it was becoming a rare occurrence. After one of my last few games I was given the chance to ask why they chose support, was answered with "Because I never get Mid", and the pieces have fallen into place.

I have reported these individuals (likely to no avail), but know that this is not just a problem with these people. This is a problem with the broken system.

If this is unique for today its probably due to the patch.

Just had my "bot" lane duo try to force me to play with an AD Malz.

He found himself quite alone

The magic just patched, and people are dying to try them.

So its like seeing people use a new champ on the first day its out.

Keep in mind that even before this patch, most mages can be played in the support role.

The system works just fine. The problem is there are not nearly enough supports to go around (due to a combination of romanticism and maltreatment), and people expect so much from the support that it restricts itself to the hardiest of players. As a support main, I've played it so often I'd kill to go to any other role for just one game in my lengthy crusade to get to Mastery 5 with all champions, but in those rare 1000 to 1 occasions that I do get another role, bot lane flounders HARD, and I can look forward to dealing with an ADC that has gone 15/0 before level 6.

I can't go to another role even if I was able to. Support has become such a massively titanic responsibility, it is effectively closed off to players unless you are a veteran, and most players that get to that point are playing assassins in mid or jungle. It has become a burden for me, and one I cannot escape from.
