Question on surrendering for Lyte

Since you seem to have your pulse on how game makes people feel and how those feelings effect behavior, wondering if you could explain to me what the riot team has learned about the consequences of different perspectives on surrendering to gameplay. For me, I don't like surrendering at all. What I like even less is how a failed surrender vote typically means at least one and maybe two players give up. I would be interested if any thought has been given to a queue that does not allow surrendering or allows it much later in game say 30 or 40 minutes in? I would sign up for this q every time. This is my biggest complaint with the game and most common source of my own negative interactions.

if you duo queue your team will never surrender

also I myself have voted yes for surrender and even started surrender votes, but if the team declines, I keep trying my hardest to win

and many of those games we eventually won, so I was wrong to want to surrender

Seems to me that people have strong tendency to reduce their level of commitment to the game once they have decided through their surrender request it is a game they would no longer like to be a part of. This is real problem for me. I don't want to play games where the group is not committed to trying to win and at worst at least finishing. I do not know how to forward this question on but I appreciate you mentioning that option. Tired today. Suppose in truth riot will keep system they have. I see board posts with people who want to be able to surrender after 10 min. Basically, what this group is saying is that we want to be more challenged than bots but we want it to be easy enough we know we are going to win. The mechanic where everyone catches up power wise at end game because you finally get your items seems to be completely discounted by this group of players. I could see this issue leading me to play a different game. Makes lol a competitive joke. I would like a no surrender or 40 min surrender option. Not too much to ask people to make a commitment to the game they are in. Try. That is all. Try.

Shoot him the question over on his ask.fm page. He's been away for about a week (busy working or playing Fallout I guess) but once he's back he usually answers several questions each day.

Personally, I don't think a failed surrender usually results in quitters. Nearly every game I play someone starts a surrender vote, but it's rare for me to have an intentional afk.

I had a formula I used for when surrender becomes available based on the game.

It was something like, surrender was only available if:

1)The enemy has more players who have acted in the last 5 minutes than your team. 2) The enemy has at least double your gold. 3) The enemy has an outer structure up and you have an inhibitor down.

That sort of thing. No amount of minutes allow you to surrender, but being behind by so much does.
