Respect your damn tanks.

Don't blame them. If they left lane without feeding their laner, then it's obviously not their fault you're 0/8. It's YOUR damn fault their top laner is fed, and although they have the ability to protect you, it's still your responsibility to position yourself right. Why the sudden interest in this issue? Well, let me give you an example. A very recent one.

I just had a game as Shen where I went up against Lulu top. As hellish as the lane was, I left it with a positive KDA and I had ulted several times to get everybody else kills. I worked hard to keep the lane under control, and I kept my turret up for a surprisingly long time considering the enemy laner had been doing nothing but pushing.

Soon enough, this Lulu had a build that looked something like item 3124item 3115item 3146item 3091item 1301item 3053.

Now, there is no way in hell I can stop that monstrosity from pushing. Especially since item 3512 is disabled. Soon enough, the hiatus began.

Maokai "Is this your first time playing Shen? I haven't seen you land your passive all game."

I decided to simply respond that yes, I had been playing Shen correctly. I have been for the past two years, thank you very much. You're also welcome for those 2 kills I gave you off my top laner, which you decided to invest into a item 1410 and item 3116 rather than, I dunno, a frozen heart. But whatever, don't want to start anything. Let's just ignore the vitriol in that comment and continue.

Morgana "Shen, you're just bad. You let your laner get fed, your lane is a mess, you ult in really late, and you built completely wrong."

I'm sorry, Miss "I like to 1v1 the enemy Vayne and give her 6 kills." I worked so damn hard to keep your lane from feeding the enemy Vayne, and I got your ADC fed. I also defended you when you kept feeding Vayne while defending turret, stating that you were the only one defending bot lane and that was an issue we should handle. The least you could do is acknowledge that I secured you guys a dragon and 8 kills for your ADC at the expense of tons of farm. But whatever, I'll just roll with it. I've learned that not responding to such claims is usually the best option in such a tense situation.

By the end of the game, it devolved to this: Maokai "gg, Lulu you're not even good. Shen is just really bad." Morgana "Shen, stop blaming your lack of skill on not having Zz'rot portal." (Let me note that I simply made a passing remark about how the lack of Zz'rot portal made it difficult to slow down Lulu's pushing, and nothing more.)

Really? When we were winning it was "gj Shen" but the moment things looked south everybody laid the blame on me. It's sad, really. They threw a winning game and it becomes the tank's fault.

The moral of this rant? Show your tanks some god damn respect. We forego all damage items and the glory in order to peel for you, we gank you so we can get you fed. We dedicate our existence to getting pummeled and even dying so you can live. We lose out on farming power, pushing power, and overall fun in order to win the game. You guys get to watch your DPS get higher, all we do is get hit harder. And with all the nerfs to tanks that Riot has been shipping, both direct and indirect, you better be god damn grateful to those players who are brave enough to be a tank in the top lane. Engaging YOUR fights. Peeling for YOU.

Seriously. I don't care whether you guys agree or disagree with this. I'm just here to tell you that it's nice to get some gratitude and respect once in a while, instead of the blame. It's not the tank's fault you mispositioned, or tried to fight the enemy ADC as a support, or wandered into unwarded jungle. It's not the tank's fault you tunnel visioned and chased an enemy to get trapped by the rest of their team, or can't manage objectives, or can't even forego your own ego in order to build something that's beneficial to the team.

#I'm done. Here's my rant, tried and true. Respect your tanks. Respect them.

I don't know what you are talking about, when I ult towards botlane as Sion, getting my ADC a free kill on their support and then helping my jungler do Dragon, it's OBVIOUSLY my fault my ADC decides to dive the enemie ADC :^) summoner 31

Amen. Also Lol on Morg feeding Vayne. Morg murders Vayne due to hard CC and sustain and can ignore her stun/knockback. If Morg was good she would have easily stopped Vayne everytime if not killed her by herself.

It has nothing to do with tanks; it has to do with players looking for scapegoat for losing and/or their own bad play.

I got told to uninstall the other day by a 0/15 warwick in ARAM (he ended up getting a few kills eventually) and his equally bad Jax friend (when I had the most gold and second best KDA). I've been complained at for going 25/2 as Akali and carrying because the ADC believed it was his job to carry and I should have given him the kills (He had like 2 assists, somehow I should give him kills for fights he wasn't even in).

Unfortunately it seems that a great many people these days are self-entitled and truly believe they are never the cause of their own failure as it must be someone else's fault (and this extends beyond League of Legends; this is a trend in society as a whole).

The best you can do is mute/ignore them and play your best. If they get especially toxic or derogatory just mute and report. They aren't worth being upset about.

No, respect their tanks.

Gotta love it when our Yasuo decides to 1v1 their Rammus.

It's really annoying, isn't it? Whenever a teamfight is lost, it's the tank's fault, apparently.

Once, as Sion, I was against a Nasus top. I got flamed so often for not being able to teleport down at a moments notice to help our bot lane which was getting camped by our jungler anyways...

Then they were surprised when Nasus got farmed and was a huge threat. Got blamed for that, too. Surrendered that game ASAP

Yeah I know the feeling. Tank is my most played class and it sucks building straight brick tank and still getting melted and flamed. It's like look I can CC them but yall have to do something! (also shenpai teach me your ways)

On another note Singed is a hilarious tank to play

Whenever people bitch about someone, it's simply because they want to get carried:)

Any tips on the new shen?

I know the feeling... With season 6, I started picking up tank junglers so that our team always has that option because so few people play anyone who can engage/pick/peel/protect/etc... on top lane. Supports are hit or miss, and even if it is a tanky support, they'll be limited in gold and it won't be enough to compare to say, a malphite with a whole lane's worth of gold or maybe some ganks and jungle farm...

But, it's nice being able to save people and decide when our team engages.

I don't play top lane that often, but my champ of choice for the roll is Nautilus, and I will usually try to pick up a RoA at some point (and if possible, an Abyssal Scepter). You are incredibly tanky, able to CC people for days, hold your own against bruisers and other tanks, and you can practically one shot squishies with your ult and hook. Best feeling in the world.

Vybornak2/19/2016, 11:12:58 PM1 votes

I totally agree with this :) im used to have same situations... sometimes u just die to save team but in the and if u loos and u got bad KDA ... u was that "bad one" even u did rly good and without you they would be lost much more. :/
