Do reports add up? 1 of many valid reports actually led to punishment

Like most of us, I've encountered many toxic players during my time playing this game. Not the ones who say "gg ez" but those who fill the chat log with flame, profanity, aggression and so forth. I've been in groups in which multiple of us would send in valid reports on these types of players as well. I've only gotten 1 notification that one of those players has been punished. I can recall a game in which 3 out of the 5 players on my team excessivelly used the BOTH of the N words (Im African-American), and got nothing back though I provided chat logs POST GAME (like come on xD) in which they continued to use the phrase. Yet nothing happened and I could swear I've been told that racism is grounds for a ban of some sort. Am i wasitng my time reporting these people? I have all chat disabled most of the time unless one of my teammates hints that an enemy is being toxic then I look to see if i should report them based on what theyve said in the chat.

You're not wasting your time, I promise. You only get the notification that somebody you reported was banned if you happened to report them in the last game leading up to your ban, and even at that, I don't think they issue those notices 100% of the time. They're not super common to see (I've never seen one before, actually).

I got trolls twice today, I reported them and nothing happened. Why would I believe it works if I've seen it failing?

currently, you only get notifications when your report was part of the "final straw of reports" that got someone punished.

so for example, if you hit 10 valid reports, you get punished. you'll only get the notification when your report is part of the 10th valid report. If it was the 3rd valid report, you don't get any notification.

That being said, we don't know how many reports it takes for people to get punished. We also don't know if you'll get notifications if their punishment was chat restrictions.

The system is pretty good at punishing people, its just the visibility sucks.

Trashy kids using stupid words need to learn that they are responsible for their actions and that society does not approve of the use of "stupid words", whether or not they were used with an intent to hurt or insult.

NOT having a working system by which players can be reported for and consistently punished for these kinds of idiocies is tantamount to teaching them their actions have no consequences.

It is important that online games have the ability to report and punish offenders for "stupid words" and ignorant behaviors...for some kids it is the only brush with responsibility they're going to have before they are thrown out into the wider world.
