Why is honor time gated?

The way I see it, Honor should be a measure of positivity per game. There is zero reason why we should not be able to grind it out to prove reformation before the end of the season. If you go out of your way to make dozens of games in a week really fun and super positive, believe in your team and respect the enemy, you should be rewarded for it much more than someone who does 2-3 games a day and never types a word in chat. It's looking like it's mathematically impossible to get back to 2 no matter how much I play in time, which is killing my love for the game and is making me consider quitting for the first time. Tying ranked rewards to a busted unfair report system that dings you on a hair trigger for one game was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen. I worked hard and was positive in over 750 games to get my diamond. That far outweighs one mistake in my eyes, but Riot is merciless. I want my skin and border and I want to make tons of games positive to get them, but I can't. It certainly shouldn't take over 3 months to go from honor 0-2. That's absolutely insane. It's pretty unfair how people who get punished 2/3rds of the way through the season are not allowed the opportunity to reform and earn their rewards back whereas people who drop a kys the first week get plenty of time to. On top of that, I'm pretty terrified to type in chat period because of how sensitive this community has become and I know that even a completely false BS report can stop my progress for an unspecified amount of time. I've also seen people get perma'd on this forum for extremely milk toast "toxicity" that you literally see every other game in ranked.

If you really want to encourage positive behavior, give people instant feedback on how they are doing. Remove these stupid checkpoints and turn it into a progress bar. Let people see that they went up 2% towards the next level after being a super positive all-star instead of giving them a checkpoint in two weeks. Instant feedback is the only way to condition people. Isn't that why you issue a warning right away for minor toxicity on a clean account?

tldr Make Blaustoise head of Player Behavior immediately. He's the only one at Riot who gets it.

Because Riot means for honor to be a season long thing, not something you can grind for and top out in a month or two. This way stops trolls from being toxic then quickly getting back to honor 2 for their season rewards. This is also the reason players start at honor 2, so that even if they don't make a massive positive impact on the game they can still get their ranked rewards without a long grind.

First, before I start rambling about the Honor system and various reasons why it could be time gated, lemme get this out of the way;

Tying ranked rewards to a busted unfair report system that dings you on a hair trigger for one game was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

On top of that, I'm pretty terrified to type in chat period because of how sensitive this community has become and I know that even a completely false BS report can stop my progress for an unspecified amount of time. The IFS operates based on consistency and severity. Consistent, mild toxicity will have the same end result as inconsistent, harsh toxicity. You act like it's on a hair trigger, but lemme ask you; is it really, or did you have a number of negative games before the punishment?

And no, a false report will not stop your Honor Progress. Your Honor Progress will only be slowed if a report made against you is valid. If you don't do anything wrong, literally nothing will come of those reports.

That aside, let's talk a bit about time gating and Honor.

First and foremost, it should be well-known by now that Riot intended for Honor to be a season-long thing. They wanted people to be able to just play and not worry about grinding super hard solely to get Honor Level 5 and then have no reason to give a shit about Honor for the rest of the year.

Second...The Honor System has rewards tied directly into it. Those checkpoints and level-ups give you things and stuff. Hextech Key Fragments, Champion, Skin, & other such shards. Hell, even exclusive content like Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick. If Honor wasn't time-gated, those rewards would be super easy to farm, and the exclusives would have little to no value, because you could probably just reach Honor Level 5, get an intentional punishment, grind your way back to five, and bam. More free shit.

That is not a good thing to have, for any system.

If you go out of your way to make dozens of games in a week really fun and super positive, believe in your team and respect the enemy, you should be rewarded for it much more than someone who does 2-3 games a day and never types a word in chat. Let me be the first to tell you; the way you think things should be is typically not the way things should actually be. Especially when your ideas come from a position of bias - you have everything to gain from having an abuseable, grindable Honor System, since you've recently run afoul of the rules and are suffering the repercussions for it.

The Honor System is meant to be climbed by both hardcore and casual players alike. It makes the smallest difference to jam out and be positive in a clusterfuck of matches compared to being neutral in a match a day. That is the way the system should be. The system should not cater to players who can just burn out on match after match after match.

If you want your skin and border, earn it. If I'm not mistaken, you should generally have enough time to reclimb to Honor Level 2.

Friend of mine was toxic as hell early in the year, got punished and made back his honour 5 for season rewards. I got frustrated and said a few things, got chat restricted for 10 games, and turned my attitude around, but even after almost a month and a half I'm still 2 checkpoints off honour 2, so while I get honour being a season type deal, now that I dont get my rewards why should I reform (From riots point of view) there is no reason to with the honour resetting around about the time I'll get honour 2 back anyway. I miss my rewards by a couple weeks maybe, feels worse than getting 99lp 3 times in a row.
