Boosting. What qualifies as Boosting?

So my team fell "victim" to a high ranking player/streamer playing on a smurf and playing with his viewers/subscribers. He single-handedly carried the game (I afterward was able to identify who it was based on something said in the post-game screen; no one advertised it). I know that this was rather harmless since smurfs exist at every level, and they will eventually get to their appropriate level (just as people who are boosted/carried will fall accordingly). I eventually got on the stream and made a light-hearted "thanks for destroying my team :'(" comment, and he chuckled and apologized. Just him saying that upped my mood, and I understand that people just want to play with others.

I was wondering if this counts as boosting, though, if a player of an obviously higher skill level plays with players of an obviously lower skill level with the intention of carrying them up. Is this punishable? I'm not wishing any ill will for this person since he seemed like a nice guy, but I would like to inform him if it's improper to do so. I wouldn't want him to get in any trouble.

Thanks.

Only punishable boosting is if someone logs on other players account.

Hello, if it happens once, let's say it was just an account sharing, which is already a serious offense. If the streamer keeps using his viewer's account, it can be considered as elo boosting, even if it is just to entertain viewers. Arf, sorry I misread. Smurfing is not forbidden. It can negatively impact games but it's kinda like AFKs. Depending where the smurf is, there will be an easy win for 4 carried players and an unfair loss for 5 guys. But, it balances out because the smurf can either be your teammate or your opponent. in addition, smurf will win a vast majority of games and will quickly end up back in high ELO, as high as the main account. Than the streamer should probably be more careful about how he uses the term "boosting". Generally speaking, getting boosted is letting someone play on your account to reach a specific rank. Getting carried is playing on your own account with a higher level player on their own account.

The first is bannable. The second is annoying (to other players), but acceptable under the rules because there is no account sharing, and the lower level player still has to play themselves.
