Why Are Current Generation Gamers Pansies?

5 years ago, if you told someone to drink bleach they'd ask you to provide the cup and the mixed beverage. Now a days, if you tell someone a way to improve their gameplay they go on a tantrum and report you.

What happened?

Nothing really, League mostly caters towards casual gamers who'd like to have fun and not play a game with someone who's using crude humour. Because of this, the use of this kind of humour kind of lost it's place within the internet.

Nothing happened. You're playing a game with a huge age range. Both the generation you're referring to and 8 year olds play this game, and you have no way of telling the difference. 8 year olds generally don't respond well to being told to kill themselves.

Which of these games you used to play placed you in a situation where you are forced to play along side a group 4 strangers with no ability to boot the bad out of your games, and a penalty if you try to leave yourself?

Don't get me wrong, that's a simple necessity in League of Legends, and there's no way around it short of making all games premade 5s only. But that's the nature of the beast.

Also, having played Starcraft myself, there was nothing anywhere remotely close to what we see in League today, precisely for the reason listed above. Most games were 1v1, or if not, were premade with a host that could boot people out.

culture changed, people have less focus on having a thick skin and want to have less toxic interactions, which isnt a bad thing but it means dudes like you and me are now misfits

I don't think you were playing online games 5 years ago...

The Watatar8/15/2017, 6:20:35 PM2 votes

I would say that people got tired with people thinking they could treat others however they wanted, and also the game developers. That is my guess why the ban system is so much harsher these days.

I think that if people would have acted much more proper back in the days. You would not have the same problems with online gaming we got today. (In relevance to reports, etc)

Pandemic Punch8/15/2017, 7:46:11 PM2 votes

You are correct. Social Justice Warriors and outrage culture happened.

Granted, I was never the one to throw the insults until they threw them my way first. But at least I could insult back without worrying about my account getting banned.

Current generation was raised to try instead of do. Most lack the discipline and integrity to actually deal with the real world. Most were told how special they were and when they hit the real word they don't understand why Mommy and Daddy lied to them and they don't know how to react to reality. They continue to behave in the same manner because they don't know any better. Most don't understand how to succeed so they use the excuse, "I just want to have fun", to justify failing at something as simple as a game. Tells alot about their real life if you ask me. Successful people succeed everywhere in anything they do and they don't make excuses. It's human nature. Society raised this soft generation because they thought it was a better way without thinking about the negative effects. I doubt it can be fixed now. It's easier to fail so why would this useless generation want to change that? They would actually have to work at it. Kudos to those of you that have.

Except the average age of gamers is still around 30. Meaning the same people who maybe didn't care 5 years ago have matured and seen the stuff that happens from saying those things.

I'm not a sjw but I am someone who does say questionable thing only around friends or people who I think will be okay with it. I usually mess with my friend in comms. We give each other crap and have for years, since MW2. Even making jokes about suicide, rape, and general asshole jokes. Well, that friend has been depressed and I won't joke with him about that because he might do it. I stopped making rape jokes because I learned about some other friends who experienced it.

So they might not be pansies because they don't share your humor. They may just have grown up and matured. I'm not condemning anyone who has that humor, and you shouldn't condemn for the lack of it.

Years ago it was fun messing around in small online shooter communities saying stuff like that but now with how big online gaming got everyone is a random. It's not fun to tell people you don't know to go drink bleach or to hang themselves. I still banter like that with friends but in games with people I don't know I would never

People can't take criticism. They don't want to hear that they might not be doing something correctly or how to improve. They assume they know best. They don't look beyond their own lane/jg and see what everyone else is ACTUALLY having to deal with in their lanes/jg.

Lane x for instance goes 1/3/0 but is up 30 cs and has been repeat ganked every time they leave tower and been roamed on with no mia by a fed laner from another lane. They can still win 1v1 despite being so heavily focused. Lane y fed their lane opponent 1v1. Due to jungle help though, they are 3/5/1. They are playing super passively at all the wrong times, never warding, and hiding under tower refusing to push even when their lane opponent is sitting in lane x for a full min waiting for said player to push out. Lane y calls lane x toxic trash because lane x told lane y to get off their butt and push out when their lane opponent is sitting in lane x for a full minute while lane y is doing nothing. So the lane x that has had to deal with either 1v2 or 1v3 all game (assuming solo lane) or else 2v3 or 2v4 all game (assuming lane x is bot lane) is considered trash because they have a lower kda. Despite the fact that they are actually more skilled than their opponent, that they've actually set up their teammates for great counter-gank opportunities which could have given them a positive kda, and despite the fact that they are STILL even after having been camped for 15+ minutes by people they didn't feed. Meanwhile lane y - which has been given a 2v1 or a 3v2 for 15+ min cannot win their lane, refuse to push and consequently don't punish their lane opponent(s) for roaming to other lanes, cost their team towers (in their lane and other lanes), prevent their teammates from punishing their lane opponents, and cost map objectives (baron, drag, jungle camps). Somehow because they are 3/5/1 though, most people see this as much better than the 1/3/0 laner. And that someone with 0.33 kda would lecture someone with 0.8 kda about what they should be doing is inconceivable and toxic - no matter how nicely it is done or how valid their point.

People are lazy, arrogant, blind, and selfish. This has only gotten worse over the years - and I'm not saying this because I'm older. To give an example outside of league...

When I was younger, little kids sat in the front of the bus. We didn't talk to the older kids or look at them funny unless we wanted to get the crap beat out of us. When I was middle aged kid, stuff still held true. When I got to be that older kid sitting in the back of the bus, the little kid could turn around and cuss the crap out of anyone and if an older kid put him in his place, the older kid got punished and was a horrible person for doing that to some "innocent" little kid. Hell a friend of mine got sick of this one kid and convinced him to powderize some smarties and sniff them. It really stung his nose, but he did it a second time. Next day, my friend gets detention for it while the kid got nothing for having cursed repeatedly and talked shit to everyone. Instead of society teaching the little punk a lesson, it punishes the people who try to teach people to have some damn respect for others and that people who don't show respect need to be taught it - sometimes painfully. Don't know why society keeps heading further in this direction, but my guess is when all these kids become adults and experience THEIR CHILDREN acting towards them the way they acted towards others (and had society pretend such blind selfish rudeness was ok) they will be like "hell no". Then it will swing the other direction.

Call us Pansies or whatever.

I enjoy not being banned and receiving rewards :^)

Youre the kind of person that gets banned 2 weeks long for saying "Kys" several times and then complains about it, because he thought it was funny and just a joke.

I think it's just the League community, because of how mainstream it's become, now "normal" people play games too. Back in the day, the demographic of gamers was much smaller and they grew to find that shit funny because of the reaction you'd get out of the normal people for saying some crazy offensive shit. Other games that aren't as popular are still intact for the most part tho, and you still see the good ol' autistic sense of humour

The decline of Western society reached terminal velocity. The war on masculinity. The stressing of words doing more harm than violence.
