GD is a strange and odd board subsection. Part of the reason this change was instituted after the move from the forums to the boards is because many players on the old forum GD would create and use several smurf accounts to bot vote, spam threads, or other random things that were abusable by players who had several accounts.
In order to limit shenanigans with the move to the boards in the most heavily trafficked subsection various policies were instituted, this being one of them. Don't take it personal. Its to help protect the integrity of the boards in a subsection that has a very difficult time as it is already maintaining its integrity.
