Not sure if this was an unintentional side bonus, or if this system from the start was intended as such, but I predict this will be one of the most effective player behavior improving reward system to date. I feel almost dirty complimenting riot like this...

Can I still earn mastery chests when my account is restricted for unsportsmanlike behavior?

No. Players who are chat or ranked restricted or currently banned from play cannot earn or unlock chests through Champion Mastery. Once they’ve reformed, they’ll be eligible for rewards again.

Most people who are unable to get Hextech are not CURRENTLY banned from play or restricted

It won't though, because it doesn't stop them from paying cash to get it. Nor does it reward positive behavior. Nor does it fix Riots broken ass auto-ban-bot.

4 free boxes a month isn't enough to make me care about my behavior, personally.

(I say this as someone with only a single 5 game chat restriction on my four year account. 'Oh no, now I won't get free random loot every SIX days!' isn't a deterrent in my mind. )

Except for the fact that, like mentioned, Several people are no longer under those restrictions, and https://twitter.com/RiotSocrates is being an asshole on twitter about the situation.

What's more annoying is the constant message after every game basically rubbing it in your face that "hey, you've been bad once in your life, NO SOUP FOR YOU"

It's honestly a terrible launch of a rewards system for a system that will give a chat restriction to anyone just trying to talk in game.

Honestly, this whole situation and the outright bold face lie that riot put in the FAQ is causing me never to spend any more money nor really promote the game through my twitch stream...
