Do the Punishment systems work?

Re-posted this to change the poll so people would want to vote. There you go.

Have you noticed how much better the game League of Legends has gotten over the years? All the perma bans and punishments to reform player's behavior has really done a lot to improve the community, right guys? I mean I hardly ever see a troll, or flamer in any games anymore, because the perma ban and chat restriction system is hard at work, so those players are no longer allowed to play league, making it such a nice place for us well behaved players. I can't remember when the last time I had and afk or feeder talking trash to me in my game.

Let me check my match history right now.

Oh wait, whats this? Last 15 games I have had about 12 feeders, 8 afks, and about 10 toxic people talking trash and losing on purpose. My win loss rate has gone to shit, and I am still seeing all of these really annoying people even though the punishment system is in place to prevent this from happening.

Hmmm....

Now that I think about it, why is the punishment system there at all? Its done nothing for this game, and makes the game worse. So if its not working, and makes the game only suck more, why is it still around?

Maybe we should get rid of this bad system, and let people do what they want without the telling on people system that makes players rage more and hate each other.

Anyone have any opinion on this?

Do you think the punishment system is working? Because I don't see any evidence of this in the actual game I am playing called league of legends.

Works in that it makes money for Riot and account sellers.

Very much agree in terms of whatever system they have in place is not working. One can 'assume' they are trying to address the issue but therein lies the issue, we are forced to 'assume' it. What they need to implement is a reporting system that tracks punishments (if any) that the person that reported can review and see the reasoning for the decisions. Otherwise we are left to assume Riot is actually not addressing the issue since obviously the toxic behavior in the game has gotten worse over the years.

Seems to work. Went from 1/5th of my games to 1/50th of my games. A 10 x decrease. It also probably helps that I help solve problems on my team and try to get instigators back on track between shop trips/walking to lane, etc. Amazing what positive attitudes can do.
