Why are people loading in cussing and being jerks? (Its a trap)

I just don't get it, I literally had 2 people load into champion select pissed as all hell and it only got worse as the game went on. The support bard started on his ADC right away calling him stupid for wanting to invade. Next the GP starts trash talking me cuz I happened to be walking behind his turret when he got blown up by a mid-lane Kalista (Kalista and Cass lane swapped). But just negative harassment form the word go.

I figured it out finally after MF cussed at them in the post game screen. They were trying to bait us into cursing at them so the report system would get us. This is an underhanded truly cowardly thing to do and I don't know what to do about it. I can mute them, I can tell my team to mute them, but what about the next poor team? These guys are wrecking games and they are being really creative in there attacks on other players so they cant be reported back as easily.

Baiting you into retaliating is something they do for fun. If you ignore them they will only be a problem for themselves, and you win instead of them. Even if you do get toxic back your reports against them will not have any less effect, so while you might be at risk of punishment do not forget to report them.

Don't ask others to report though. It is considered harassment, will most likely cause them to troll you harder, and mass reporting actually has roughly no more effect than one report. Punishment is calculated per match, not per report.

Just mute and report and move on to the best of your ability. If they are intentionally trying to circumvent the system, reports will still detect their pattern of behavior and Riot may manually review the case; that easily results in instant bans for them.

As far as I know things said in the pre-game lobby & in the post-game lobby can also be reviewed by Riot, but not anyone else, which is probably what often comes back to bite people in the booty.

Why exactly is it possible to be reported for 'language' ? I honestly don't understand, there is a filter that you can turn on and off.... what exactly is the point of having it if some small child who probably isn't even 13 anyway gets offended? item 3070
