so hear me out. for those toxic in the chat department of league of legends, a full year chat ban. this will be only applied to those guilty of toxicity, flaming or anything related to chat that rewarded the punishment.

this (for toxic bois) will be after the 14 day ban, to let them reconcile in the ban period. also, year as in REAL year, December 20 2018 - december 20 2019 a whole year of chat restriction.

Why it works and why its fair:

1: it allows toxic players to play the game, but not affect the community or less atleast.

2: it gives players A LONG time to think about their words, and if they still fuck up, they can't complain.

Why it dosen't work and why it could be broken:

1: players can still be toxic with a chat ban, just less.

2: inconsistency in the ban system.

leave your thoughts.

Riot experimented with prolonged cbat punishments in the past, and found that players subjected to these extended punishments continued to find other ways to be toxic, many of which were harder to detect. They had such a vast amount of evidence supporting this trend that they discontinued the practice in favor of the sysyem we have now.

Not going to happen, chat restricted players are a liability to their team, which is partly why they are also banned from ranked while restricted.

The problem, though, is not the chat. The problem is the players' attitude that taking anger out on strangers over a video game is acceptable.

Players with this sort of toxic attitude who are limited in chat for long periods of time (or permanently) will eventually turn to other methods of taking anger out. Maybe it's light griefing, such as not grouping. Maybe they "accidentally" take jungler's buffs more. Whatever it is, they resort to trolling that is not detectable by automated systems, and is hard to confirm as intentional even when a human reviews it.

This has been tried before and that was the result. Why would it be any different now?

So someone you play with tells you to kill yourself, wishes cancer on your family, wishes that the worst imaginable thing happens to your sister, and then ends the game with wishing you all your children are born with a birth defect.

You report him.

He gets punished with a 1 year chat restriction.

You start another game.

Same guys is in your team again, only he can't use chat.

Why give toxic players another chance. It honestly boggles my mind how many people come on the forums with these "new" ideas when they are just the same, regurgitated thought, posted over, and over again
