Are spam pings punishable? I just wanna know because I ping 5 times whenever someone dies, it's hilarious and triggers people easily

Yes - it's a form of harassment.

That said I just instamute anyone who spam pings, they're not worth paying any attention to.

It is a theoretically punishable action. I have not seen anyone publicly contesting a ban for spam pinging.

The two options for that data set are that none are currently punished for spam pinging, or that everyone who is punished for spam pinging accepts that it was deserved.

Since you know that you're doing it to annoy people, I would assume that you personally wouldn't protest the ban on the PB board.

The IFS is coded to specifically not punish innocent people, so I would suggest toning down the spam pinging to a level where a review of your actions would have reasonable doubt as to if you were intentionally annoying people.
