"Objectively identifying a teammate" you're rich.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

You don't understand the context there.

JhomasTefferson: %%%%%%s stole my red JhomasTefferson: ty for gicving her my red

i was talking about the enemy jg stealing my red then dying to one of my laners.

and when they are grouping against a team which has aoe cc and a bunch of aoe damage (braum, brand, mf) that's a true statement

Dynikus4 votes

Why did this warrant a new thread? Your other one got too many downvotes?

I'm curious what you consider toxic though if you think your chatlogs were okay.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

cursing at people and demeaning them as a person and player

You braindead scumfuck bastard you deserve to be gunned down in the street like the degenerate you are

that would be toxic

My team sucks, x being bad at positioning and having really awful farm, as well as grouping up against a really good teamfight team is the reason we're losing

that would not be

TrulyBland6 votes

"My team sucks" isn't demeaning? Constructively criticising your team, and explaining why you are currently losing is not bad. You might have formulated it better (for example directly adressing people for their flaws, rather than passive aggressively bitching about them), but the real problem here would be the direct insult you start out with.

You yourself talk about objectivity in your OP. Well, here's the thing: "My team sucks", no matter how you spin it, is not an objective statement. You can give the entire rest an objective "spin", if you want to. But those three initial words are plain and simple an attempt to belittle and ultimately insult your team.

And finally: It's not your job to "identify" who allegedly lost you the game. If you want to improve your chance to win, don't identify them as the cause of your loss, but help them stop being the reason you lose by giving them advice. If all you want to do is bitch about how unfair it is that you lost the game due to somebody else: Don't. Just let it go, and try to keep focussed on your own play and how you could have salvaged this if you were a better player.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

If my team is bad at the game, how is

"My team sucks" not objective?

TrulyBland4 votes

Because it simply isn't. "Sucking" doesn't have an objective definition outside of the physical act of applying force through evacuation. Not even "bad" has an objective definition.

Instead, this is what people call an "opinion". Why? Because somebody who is way way way way way way way worse than those people might actually think they play pretty well. And it's impossible to objectively "measure" which of you is right.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Oh wow. I didn't think of it that way, about there being no objective definition of bad...

but if there isn't a definition of bad in league, how can there be a bad play? or a good play? if the right play would be a good play... how can there be a right play?

TrulyBland2 votes

While LoL is too complicated to be properly "calculated" like chess, it's the same logic that makes certain moves in chess better than others: Statistically, they will increase or decrease your chance to win.

As said, League is too complicated. The best you can do (sometimes at least) is look at two possibilities, and compare how they probably impact the chance to win. But even the it's usually in retrospect. It's so easy to say "we shouldn't have engaged" after everybody is dead. But that doesn't really mean it was a bad idea. Might have just been executed badly.

I suppose my point is: The best thing is not to focus on what was bad or what was good, since those are difficult to define. Focus on what is easier to define; focus on what would have been the better choice / move / play.

If you do that, it will improve your skill, your ability to give constructive criticism and, honestly, your enjoyment of the game.

You have no idea what toxic means, you think you have to call death threads out.

Calling someone noob is already kind of toxic since you spread your bad behaviour. And yes noob means newbie out of brain which says you think the person is some kind of braindead.

" Toxic Toxic is a group of people who are rude and can't be nice. Their personalities are so unappealing its make the people around them suffer and turn rude as well."

Here we got 1 individual instead of a group but yes, thats you.

JhomasTefferson2 votes

Noob means new player who is (usually) bad at the game

its not an acronym

CooL Ice Tea2 votes

Its exactly how I said "newbie out of brain" = "n o o b"

JhomasTefferson2 votes

Im sorry, but youre wrong. Its noob. slang term for new player, not N.O.O.B.

Its not an acronym, Please look up what that means before responding further.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Newbie, shortened to newb, written differently, noob.

Just because one website says it doesn't mean its true. I can link you websites claiming the earth is flat. doesn't mean im right.

if I had to guess the reason they changed newb to noob is cuz noob is easier to type with one hand.

edit: also, to discredit the site you listed, they have a list of the most popular acronyms on there, yet don't have NASA or WASP on the list.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

Yes, cz let's listen to the guy who explained in his own opinion rather than the source people have provided to back up their facts.

TrulyBland1 votes

Because he's actually right.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newbie

The word "noob" has been a slang for newbie already before the internet, the popularity of "newbie" and "newb" switched towards "noob" while I was still playing online. In fact outside of this website that apparently specializes in abbreviations and acronyms, I've never seen anybody write it in capital letters or in any other way imply it's an acronym.

OP may be an idiot in many ways, but in this case he is right. (Even though he's still wrong in the sense that "noob" is definitely a word that's mostly used to insult people who are not actually newbies)

"Newbie out of brain" is a backronym, similar as to how a lot of people are convinced that meta stands for "Most efficient/excellent/whatever tactic available", when it is just literally its own word borrowed from somewhere else.

BeatzBoyFTW1 votes

And the fact that the word "noob" is still considered to be an insult, as the description says so in the link:

a derogatory name for an inexperienced or under-talented hacker or gamer,[8] who lacks the determination to learn.

Alpha Samsuni1 votes

Anyways the point is that noob is used as an insult on the interwebz.

How does calling someone out benefit anyone?

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Isnt the number one problem with bronze players that they can't accept that theyre bad? Maybe if i tell them enough theyll get the message. when i fuck up, i can accept it, but there are times when ive done nearly everything i can do, yet still cant win because my teammates are bad. when i go 1/14/5, that was me, it was a bad game, but when i start the game 16/0/7 and secure many objectives, yet still lose, i should be able to say "well, not my fault i lost, this one was sorta on my teammates."

elduris6 votes

If you know they won't accept "the fact that they're bad" then why even bother calling them out in the first place? Seems like it'd be a total waste of time.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

so should i just mute and never use the chat function?

why did they even put in a chat function?

elduris8 votes

{quoted}

why did they even put in a chat function?

So people who have self-control can communicate with their team. If you're not one of those people, then you shouldn't use the chat.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

what should i use it for? only to say "gj"?

when i see a teammate feeding the fuck out of their lane i shouldn't even type "maybe just try to farm?"

elduris9 votes

Believe it or not, you can be neutral in your tone and not get reported. Instead of saying "learn to farm" try "just focus on last hitting." Or, instead of "not my fault they're idiot bronzies who think grouping is always the answer" try "grouping isn't working, let's try to split." There's a world of difference when you aren't a complete douche to your team.

Tbh, if you have so little empathy to wish someone would kill themselves just because they are more emotional, you deserve the ban.

Have you lost sight that there are other people on the other side of that screen of yours? They don't exist only on the internet. They have bad days, they have good days. Some of them might even be experiencing something particularly horrible in their life at the moment and don't need another asshole telling them to kill themselves over a video game.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

I return what I have received in kind. This community showed no empathy to me.

Maybe I was having a bad day when I typed this?

AeroWaffle4 votes

You use the tools provided to report individuals that are crossing the line. You don't take that behavior to justify yourself attacking a different individual or even the same individual.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

There is no line!!! that's what this whole post is about... just some loose "don't be a dick" type rule.

AeroWaffle4 votes

And you think that telling someone that they suck at the video game is not being a dick?

It's a statement with the sole purpose to insult them.

BladeSteel1 votes

Just leave him. He's either incredibly dumb or a troll.

Dynikus2 votes

Isnt the number one problem with bronze players that they can't accept that theyre bad?

I'd wager it's blaming their team for every game they lose, then praising themselves every game they win. And telling someone they're bad isn't helpful in any way. Do a quick google search for "constructive criticism".

JhomasTefferson1 votes

k, sorry i just said "youre bad" after they called me bad. I didn't even report them because i don't consider that toxic, that's how minor i consider calling someone bad. it shouldn't be considered toxic.

I'd wager it's blaming their team for every game they lose, then praising themselves every game they win.

are you trying to say i do this? i can identify when im at fault for losing the game, but their comes a point when you don't have to shoulder responsibility for a loss anymore.

I could also make a case for when im carried, and when i do, in fact, carry. i feel like the majority of my wins aren't cuz any particular person on my team carried... i just got lucky and didn't have someone extraordinarily toxic on my team, or a feeder, or someone who ragequits after going 0/3. i just need teammates who remain relatively calm and keep trying. That's why i feel like im carryable. I don't do those things. Well, apparently im toxic, but im sorry, i truly didn't consider saying so and so sucks or that they are bad toxic.

BladeSteel1 votes

Thats great, you don't have to "shoulder responsibility for a loss" but you don't have to say it to them. That does nothing to help, just makes you seem like an immature loser who can't control his feelings.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Im expressing my feelings on a situation...

I think this whole drive to "end toxicity" is because people should care about other people's feelings... are you saying you don't care about my feelings?

BladeSteel1 votes

This has nothing to do about if i care or don't care about your feelings. This has everything to do about you controlling yourself and your actions. As you can see, your current level of control has gotten you a chat restriction. If you continue, you will be banned. You have 2 more chances. Learn to control yourself, or don't play this game.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Why cant the people im "toxic" to control their feelings and get the fuck over what I said to them?

BladeSteel1 votes

They can...its called they don't respond to your toxicity and they report you so that others don't have to deal with someone with the maturity of a 3 year old.

BladeSteel1 votes

So If you do bad (lets say go 1/14/5) and you team starts saying "oh you suck, you're bad, we can't win because of you" will that help you do better? will that do ANYTHING to help you do better in that game? There is no reason to just say "you suck you're bad".

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Yes, actually it will help me do better.

I don't want to hear people telling me that, so Im incentivized to play better.

BladeSteel1 votes

This isn't about "someone might tell you that" this is someone is telling you that currently. you aren't doing well, and they are currently telling you that you suck. Does that help you in that game? I doubt that it will.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Yes. If I start playing better and stop making the mistakes that prompted them to say that to me in the first place, then they wont say it to me anymore.

So, as a result of their "negative" comments, im playing better.

BladeSteel1 votes

I guarantee you won't.

JhomasTefferson1 votes

Mundo you fucking idiot, build armor against fiora

I build armor, I kill fiora

gj mundo, way to come back

you were saying?

ok i'm done talking to someone who doesn't understand :) have a nice ban!

In the "sportsmanlike" section. You clearly did not read the summoner's code you agreed to.
